}{B Posted August 14, 2017 Share #1 Posted August 14, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm thinking of adding a 50mm Summitar to my arsenal of screw fit lenses but I would like to use E39 filters together with the hood from my F2.8 Elmar M. I believe that a SNHOO adapter would allow this. I've seen something described as 'Leitz filter add.13078Y' advertised and I'm wondering if this is a SNHOO adapter or if not would it serve the same purpose? a.noctilux Posted August 14, 2017 Share #2 Posted August 14, 2017 Yes SNHOO = 13078Y if we rely on the link: http://www.leica.paris-montmartre.fr/p241_r2604-ADAPTATEUR-SNHOO-POUR-SUMMITAR-50mm-f-2.html There is also discussions, here: https://www.l-camera-forum.com/topic/129391-snhoo-filter-adapter-ring-summitar/ https://www.l-camera-forum.com/topic/49842-summitar-50-filter-thread-specifications/
Pecole Posted August 16, 2017 Share #3 Posted August 16, 2017 As far as I can remember, SNHOO/13078 adapter is for use E42 (not E39) filters on Summitar. But...being 83 years old and having given up collecting more than 10 years ago...???
}{B Posted August 17, 2017 Author Share #4 Posted August 17, 2017 Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! The 50mm Summitar and the 13078Y adapter have arrived and the adapter does allow E39 filters to be attached. The lens isn't in bad condition considering it was made in 1948. It has coated glass which isn't marked but has slight haze However the aperture adjustment is very stiff and a service is probably called for. As can be seen the adapter plus filter plus the Elmar M hood adds bulk to the front of the lens but no more so than the original hood. After a dozen or so shots on my M10 the hood doesn't vignette and won't obstruct the rangefinder windows on the 111f. wlaidlaw Posted August 17, 2017 Share #5 Posted August 17, 2017 I believe Photozone in the UK are selling clones of these adapters (13078Y/SCNOO) if you cannot locate an original or want to pay a lesser price. DAG said he was going to have some made and I had one on order for years but it never arrived. Wilson
