Karlm Posted August 9, 2017 Share #1 Posted August 9, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello, I just inherited a Leica IIIf and quite a few accessories. I'm trying to sort out bits and pieces and get everything up and functional. Right now I'm having issues with my Visoflex I attachment. The screw mount visoflex goes past vertical when fully screwed down. I'm assuming that any pictures taken like this will have a slight tilt to them, which I am sure will drive me crazy. How do I adjust the screw mount ring on this accessory? I don't want to to booger anything up too bad. Thanks for any help. Karl

gyoung Posted August 10, 2017 Share #2 Posted August 10, 2017 Either the Leica lens mount is out of alignment (most unlikely) or the Visoflex screw thread is out of alignment. I dont have any experience of the Visoflex 1 (I have a II and have owned a III), maybe a Viso 1 owner can comment on if adjustment is possible. Do the lenses line up properly on the camera? Michael Hiles Posted August 10, 2017 Share #4 Posted August 10, 2017 I had a similar problem with a related adapter (OUBIO). Loosening the mounting screws, realigning, and retightening the screws did the trick. Get the right screwdriver, so you wont mangle the screws. Important. spydrxx Posted August 10, 2017 Share #5 Posted August 10, 2017 I had a similar issue with a Viso II in an LTM mount, the mount was easy to readjust with 3 setscrews.
luigi bertolotti Posted August 10, 2017 Share #6 Posted August 10, 2017 (edited) As above said, isn't too difficult a DIY adjustement of the correct alignement : but your Viso I is (obviously...) very old and some other little problems can occusr (for instance, dirt on the matte screen, or not smooth operation of the button with locking mechanism, or the 90° rotation facility...) : in case you whish really to have it in top shape, in Europe (Holland) there is a lab (Van Manen :https://www.kamera-service.info/index.php/en/ ) which is highly specialized also on Visoflexes... their work has been foten praised in the Forum. jaques Posted August 11, 2017 Share #7 Posted August 11, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) isn't there a button on the side that allows you to turn the attachment 90 degrees? Perhaps that's the issue?
wlaidlaw Posted August 12, 2017 Share #8 Posted August 12, 2017 (edited) I think the screw mount Visoflexes lead a hard life compared with the bayonet mount ones. People will try to screw them up too hard or let the mounting face get dry and dirty when they can jam screwed on. I think in those circumstances, the adjustable rear mount, which is just clamped with small set screws, can be forced to turn. I use a cotton bud, which I have sprayed with silicone-teflon dry lubricant (R S Components), to wipe over both my screw and bayonet mounts, both cameras and lenses to prevent jamming. I also do this to B+W alloy bodied filters, which are notorious for jamming in the front of lenses. A good tip for removing jammed filters is to use one of those circles of tacky plastic called "Jar Grippers" you can buy from good kitchen stores and medical aid shops, to help people like me, with arthritic hands to remove the tops of jars and bottles. https://www.amazon.co.uk/d/Can-Openers/Lakeland-Grippers-Perfect-Opening-Pickle/B00IRB2F0M/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1502532943&sr=8-1&keywords=jar+gripper Wilson Edited August 12, 2017 by wlaidlaw
