Soft case options

Ralph.

Welcome to this forum. Plenty of advice already contained in the Q forum posts. Just search Q case. I don't think you would want to fit the Q into a case that wasn't designed for it. However, you have to be clear about what you want. Is it a permanent tight fitting case that allows access to all the buttons, battery, card and features, or is it a bag to carry the camera around. Maybe you just want a neoprene pouch. Leica sell a thin fitted leather case for about £100, and some third parties make thicker leather cases. They all protect. There are many discussions on this forum but the case choice should be yours. Some of us have purchased a leather case with metal base, screw ed to your Q and incorporating a built-in grip and access to the battery and sdcard. This is the Lim's half case and available through e-bay.

Good luck.

After traveling extensively with my Lumix GX-1 and assorted primes, I found a that my little Lowe-Pro bag was just the ticket.  So when I got my Q, I went on a quest to find the right soft case/bag that would offer the same protection that you want.  At the risk of divorce, I purchased several bags including the Domke F-8 and the ThinkTank SubUrban Disguise 5 (as well as other Domke and Billingham).  The Domke f-8 is probably the exact thing I need as it offeres padding, robust constuction and is small.  In fact I think it is too small based on my stupid mindset.  I use the Q with a wrist strap and half case and it is just enough snug that I think I will wear the paint off of the top plate when inserting or removing it.  The truth of the matter is that there is probably enough room, it's just me thinking too hard.  The ThinkTank has more room, more padditng, and a handle on top, all which make it a proven winner.  But I am still considering the Domke, with a little gaffer tape on the top plate,  for a soon to be taken trip to Europe.  It is a fine bag indeed.  Amazon and B&H stock both and they are of moderate cost.  I have put way too much thought into over the last several weeks!

One can go insane....and broke....looking for the perfect bag. I finally gave up and stick with one, Billingham Hadley Small. Not too big, not too small, not too flashy, lightweight, protects gear very well. Works with all my cameras for one body one lens and bits of extra stuff. No longer tempted to try newer bags on the market. Tried many and they all fall short on some attribute, too heavy, too large, not enough space in the right places, crappy looking or too fancy looking, etc etc.

Belle123 warns us about the risk of acquiring many bags, but none that are really perfect, That's spot on.

Bag - case - bag - case. We don't know what the OP is looking for! These two words apparently have different implications to members on different continents. Personally, I travel long distance with a "bag" It's a rucksack, and inside i might have my camera in a neoprene wrap. I don't openly carry an identifiable camera bag through airports. Once I arrive at my shooting destination I get rid of the the wrap, I get rid of the rucksack, because these items just get in the way. At that point my camera is naked and vulnerable to scrapes. To avoid that, I can deploy my Leica Q Protector. Its a half case. It fits snugly, it's very thin, it allows access to all the button features, and is obviously designed to stay on during shooting. Alternatively, I have the MrLim half case. Of course all these work with a neck strap or wrist strap.

Is that the type of case that the OP is looking for?

Is anonymity a requirement? Does the OP want to hide and disguise the camera.

Alternatively, any generic bag will do. Despite the claims of manufacturers in the camera industry, none are designed specifically. I often smile at some comments on this forum. Comments such as " the Body fits perfectlyand there's enough room for accessories and a raincoat" LOL. Is there one that can take the camera kit and the kitchen sink? I'm sure that someone would buy it! So it depends on what an individual likes to pack with the camera. A supermarket plastic bag might be suitable.

We need the OP to narrow this discussion.

I have a worrying problem since it appears that camera bags are breeding under my desk! However one product of this is the Think Tank Hubba Hubba Hiney https://www.thinktankphoto.com/products/hubba-hubba-hiney

I used to use it with my Fuji X-Pro2 but find the Q slots in nicely along with a SF40 flash, spare battery, polariser and the odd other bit. It has the added benefit of not looking too obviously like a camera bag. The Q sits in it with wrist strap and only comes out when in active use.

Leica went to some trouble (at our request) to design a small camera (the Q ) that doesn't require additional space for lenses in a bag. We can go outdoors with the camera over our shoulder and no bag. Get the Leica protector, put a spare battery in your pocket and go shoot. Bags / cases are only for carrying kit between travel, destinations or for filling spaces in bedroom cupboards once you realise they don't add to the picture-taking fun. It's a conspiracy by manufacturers to extract ridiculous amounts of money for an item that is usually unsuitable.

By the way. The Q isn't sealed and does allow dust to enter. The points of entry aren't known. I've recently had the camera dismantled to clean the sensor, and a second time to remove a tiny object visible in the viewfinder. In fact, the complete viewfinder had to be replaced.

I use this for my Q and I've just ordered a smaller one for my Pen F, it's not a perfect fit but I use it when I throw the Q in my bag it just stops any scratches.

Amazon £10.
