Skyring Posted July 25, 2017 Share #1 Posted July 25, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) This seems like a good place for discussion about the Leica C.Even my 109 is a little chunky. I can slip it into a trouser pocket, but it's not comfortable there. The C seems to be a genuinely pocketable camera, and on paper at least it has many of the functions I could use, notably a good zoom and a viewfinder, ability to write RAW files, and some manual control. Is this the fabled camera that's always with you? Is it getting a little long in the tooth at four years? Is it worth the AUD900+ I'm seeing it advertised for?Anybody recommend this? I'm not seeing a real lot of love around the place, but perhaps I'm asking the wrong people here.
Advertisement Posted July 25, 2017 Posted July 25, 2017 Hi Skyring, Take a look here Leica C?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted July 25, 2017 Share #2 Posted July 25, 2017 I had the Panasonic equivalent until I dropped it and broke the LCD. Decent results, nice lens with extreme zoom, barely usable viewfinder. To me it was a backup for my backup as the cellphone did not offer enough focal length. But yes, small. I would get the Panasonic. The Leica version is simply overpriced. wda Posted July 25, 2017 Share #3 Posted July 25, 2017 I tried one and obtained impressive results, even at 200mm lens zoom setting. But I decided to wait for the new De Lux which also has a useful EVF. But it would meet your need for a small compact camera.
ajthornbury Posted August 28, 2017 Share #4 Posted August 28, 2017 I'had one now for 2years, always carry it it's nice and light. I can do most things with it that I can do with either my D2 or my DSLR. Setting is a doddle with the large ring on the front
Graham (G4FUJ) Posted August 31, 2017 Share #5 Posted August 31, 2017 Just bought a used one. New learning process. Definitely a "pocket" sized camera. Just need to learn how to use it

farnz Posted September 18, 2017 Share #8 Posted September 18, 2017 Quite simply "yes" I would heartily recommend this humble little camera that punches well above its weight. Pete.

prk60091 Posted September 27, 2017 Share #10 Posted September 27, 2017 i love this little gem... unfortunately it is gathering dust - as my Q is occupying all of my attention. ..
Etienne Posted September 28, 2017 Share #11 Posted September 28, 2017 I had the Panasonic version for quite some time. It's really "pocketable", has a nice zoom range, and produces good quality photos. The somewhat larger than compact-average sensor (1/1,7") allows for more creative photography since you can actually obtain some sense of limited DOF with this camera. The viewfinder is barely useful, but comes in handy when the sun is really strong, or when extra stability is needed.
Skyring Posted October 4, 2017 Author Share #12 Posted October 4, 2017 My C arrived last week. What a delightful little camera! It will take me a while to be fully on board, but it is packed with features. The panorama, for example.
Graham (G4FUJ) Posted October 5, 2017 Share #13 Posted October 5, 2017 I would like to be able to disable the video record switch (something that can be set in the menu of the D-Lux 109) as I have several times accidentally pressed the record switch. Videos of feet / pavements &c. are not particularly interesting!
