I know you can buy the new electronic angle viewfinder the Leica offered for SL. About $500.

A cheaper old optical angle finder for film SL can be found for about 1/10 proce on ebay, but would not fit without some handyman.

You can also find third party angle viewfinder for almost any popular SLR.

Anyone knows anything that might work for the digital SL?

I'm not aware of an electronic angle viewfinder. Do you have a link?

BTW: I'm using this solution:

Looks like an adaptation of the R8/9 rt angle viewer.

I have one for an R9 (X 1 and X2, and the earlier 14300 model that is only X1.

Taking the 14300, I removed the 4 screws holding the angle bracket. Then cut a piece off a 1.5" angle aluminium strip the same width. Measured the distance from the angle to the base of the side to fit to the prism. Using the original as a template marked and drilled and countersunk the 4 screw holes and the centre viewing hole. Filed the top side to fit the hot shoe and cut a slot in it to make a fork so it doesn't touch the flash contacts. Kinked the fork upwards so it sits square when pushed into the hot shoe. The viewing hole lines up exactly with the viewfinder and switches the rear screen off. The magnification facility on the camera works fine so X2 on the viewer is not needed.

The only problem is the gauge of the aluminium bracket I had to use is a little thinner than the bracket I took off so its only a push fit in the hot shoe - there's a risk it will drop out unnoticed  if the camera is carried without removing it.

It took about 2 hours in the workshop so if time is money perhaps better to buy the proper one!

Can't post pictures at the moment...

Best wishes,

Graeme

Thanks Ingo - what is the combination of products you are using there? I found the "Manfrotto Universal Smartphone Clamp with ¼ thread connections" and the ballhead looks like a Novoflex?

Phone holder witn male tripod screw and prer displacement would work better for me. As I want an easy way to attach it to the camera.

I am slo looking for a pnone holder with small suck bowl. the suck bowl shpuld be less than 2.5" inch so that it can be easily attached to the LCD. All Imhave found have someqhat larger suck bowl, not ideal.

What's wrong with using the flash shoe to hold the viewfinder?
