M240 won't "see" SD card

Hi, sorry if this has been answered before...tried to search.

No problems, ever with this M240. Had some difficulty putting SD card in the slot, and finally got it in...I know, I know, but it didn't take a lot of effort, just more than normal, and I really didn't want to force it. But now the camera says "no card." Tried removing the battery, re-inserting, tried a different card, etc. Seemed to work perfectly fine about a week ago the last time I used it.

Assuming this is a repair issue, where do you recommend--the NJ service center or is one of the third party repair companies capable?

Thanks,

J.

No third-party will touch this; you probably twisted one of the connectors in the SD slot. You'll have to send it to NJ or Wetzlar for repair. (I know where I would send it ;) ) It is quite a substantial repair, even if the card slot is only a 5$ mass product. The camera will have to be dismantled to fit it.

I agree with Jaap, sounds like a bent pin. Is it under warranty? If not then remove battery, shine a flashlight down there and see what has happened. You may be able to correct it on your own with a small nonmetallic tool like a toothpick. If you can take a picture and send it to Leica NJ via email it will help them estimate time and cost quickly for you. Good luck

Thank you. @kwesi, it is not under warranty. I looked but I wouldn't know what the normal state looks like. I do think it has something to do with a spring, but the spring seems to work now, just doesn't recognize the card slot. I will email Leica.

I did take a few camera phone shots, if anyone has any expertise with it...

It happened to my friend before.

He put the card wrong side, and damaged the card slot....

If you put it correctly but had difficulty in putting into slot, it may be caused by bent pins or small particles inside slot... It is not easy to repair the slot if it is damaged... so better leave it to factory...
