Telyt lenses shoulder stock variations

I have quite a few Telyt 400mm and 560mm lenses and they come with different shoulder stocks.

The stock on the left has a flat platform with two pins to attach to the bottom of a pistol grip which has two holes (in addition to the screw hole).

The stock in the middle has a pistol grip which accepts a trigger cable. The "C" shape shoulder butt has two holes for attachment to the stock at different positions, and two more holes further out at both ends with a flat cut-out which does not look like for stock attachment. I don't know what those are for.

The stock on the right has a similar pistol grip head with the addition of a thumb screw to secure the trigger cable, but the stock itself is quite different in design that the butt plate can be removed and attached to the bottom of the pistol grip to turn it into a small table pod.

I am wondering if these different designs were from whatever time periods, or if they are specifically for whichever Telyt lenses (the f/6.8 series or the f/5.6 series)?

I think I have yet another variation where the shoulder stock (the middle one of the three on the top picture) fits directly into the back of the the block above the pistol grip, where I have marked with a red arrow. The pistol grip has a release trigger at the front to free off the follow focus friction lock. The person I bought this from many years ago had bought it new from the Leica dealer in Kuwait in 1972 but said that he suspected it might have been in stock for some time, as he got a very good deal on it. Sadly in his various travels round the world (he was an oil exploration engineer), all the original boxes had disappeared.

JC,

The whole kit is back in my UK house, so I cannot take a photo of it at present. But the shoulder end is the same as the middle of the three on the top photo but the adjustable length shaft that comes out of the shoulder stem, is from memory straight with the bayonet fitting at the front. However it is at least two years since I looked at it so my memory may be faulty. If I remember, I will post a picture of it on this thread when I get back to the UK. Otherwise, my kit is the same as the one you posted above.

The end of this stock has two pins which you insert into the top rear of the pistol grip and turn to lock into position.

My feeling is that all of them are for the f 6,8 series... even if I'm a bit uncertain about the item at left... at the moment, I have not remembrance of a device (pistol, lens' attachment, other ?) with the normal tripod/like screw AND the two pins as appear in the photo... maybe a variant of the Televit pistol ? (in this case, it would be for f5,6 lenses)

Exactly Phil, thanks for posting

I also noticed of the several f/5.6 lenses the only pistol grip that has a screw hole AND two pin holes at the bottom is the one with an R mount, which is the one on the right in the picture below.

There is no way to insert the two-pin-twist-and-turn style stock at the top rear of this pistol grip. On the left side and in the middle, which are with Visoflex mounts, the bottom of the pistol grips do not have the extra two holes but will accept the twist-and-turn stocks.

Since I only have one set of Telyt f/5.6 lenses I cannot verify if all other R mount ones are of the same one-screw-plus-two-pin configuration, but it makes sense: if it won't accept twist-and-turn stocks, the only way is to attach the stock to the bottom of the pistol grip.

Apparently there are f/5.6 R mount Telyt lenses that, unlike the one I have, will accept the twist-and-turn stock according to a 1973 French Leica catalog.

Aha... indeed, is what I supposed in my previous post... I never had a Televit for R... I knew that they typically (but not Always) lack the insertion hole for twist/turn arm... but never saw the base of the pistol... :) the two ancillary holes seems to make a perfect fit for the two pins.
