Stein K S Posted July 16, 2017 Share #1 Posted July 16, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi Just curious about the scratch resistance of the screen on my new M10. When reading about the Gorilla glass, it turns up to be different versions of this material... Gorilla glass 5 seemingly the latest and the best? I wonder which version is on the M10... and also what I can expect concerning scratch resistance.
Advertisement Posted July 16, 2017 Posted July 16, 2017 Hi Stein K S, Take a look here M10 Gorilla glass version?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
rodders Posted July 16, 2017 Share #2 Posted July 16, 2017 I remember those ads from the late '80's - "If it's not on.... it's not on!" I would just put on a Leica LCD cover and not worry about the glass not being as tough as you think.
Stein K S Posted July 16, 2017 Author Share #3 Posted July 16, 2017 Yes, I actually have put on a Leica protector. But coming from M9... with some poor screen protectors and now the M10 with a protector that I do think make the picture somewhat ¨grainy¨, it would be nice to skip any protector. My main concern is actually the screen getting rubbed against buttons and zippers in my clothing.
satureyes Posted July 16, 2017 Share #4 Posted July 16, 2017 Use a glass screen protector. Any for the SL will work. The screen is the same size.

The Leica screen protector is just fine.

The Leica screen protector is just fine.I definitely dontˋ. But it should not be wrong to let a good screen look as good as it is capable of. But no problem; the screen protector hereby stays on. Thanks all!

jonoslack Posted October 6, 2017 Share #9 Posted October 6, 2017 I don't know which version they use (might try and find out). More to the point I've had two bodies since January, used them every day without a screen protector and neither has any scratches or scuffs visible (just checked).
CJJon Posted October 7, 2017 Share #10 Posted October 7, 2017 I have the Leica half case and really like it. It completely covers the screen and flips down quickly and easily. I also like that it looks more like a film M withe the screen covered. I hate screen protectors.
onasj Posted October 7, 2017 Share #11 Posted October 7, 2017 This is the best solution I'm aware of, by far: https://www.l-camera-forum.com/topic/275624-less-expensive-than-leicas-screen-film-and-works-much-better/
