Digilux 1 Photo's -image thread

I downloaded a lot of photos from Photobucket the other day... I wanted to rescue some pictures before they disappeared forever and most of my early digital photos had been lost on a hard drive that failed a few years ago... Luckily, I had uploaded some of them.

It turns out there were a number of pictures from my Digilux 1 which I bought when it first came out. It was my first digital camera.

One photograph, which was used in a magazine article I wrote and illustrated for a magazine, was taken on it... I hadn't realised. I had always thought it was taken on a Nikon DSLR. This photo was both the front cover and a double page spread in the magazine... so if anyone worries about file size and quality for print, this may be worth remembering.

The article was about Redmire Pool and traditional angling... this was the cropped version.

Digilux 1 was my first digital camera and Leica. Travelled to Lapland and Artic Sea coast Oct/2002. Digital Leicas have travelled with me ever since.

Hi All,

Thanks for adding some pictures... its a surprisingly good little camera... although not exactly a high end performer...! And yes, it does look a 'funny old camera'... I still have mine on a shelf in a bookcase... and I found the original box with all the original packing a few days ago, too.

I eventually relegated it to use as my 'fishing camera' in the end...

Me, 'Wasp Island', Redmire Pool, early 2003

Andy, The Black Common, Swaffham Prior

Re-furbished Allcocks Wizard from the Fifties

As you can see, very much used as a 'fishing camera'... but fun to use and surprisingly competent... I just wish I had access to my old hard drives, there would have been some more interesting pictures on there which better illustrate its capabilities...

Anyone got any more...?  :)

  • 1 year later...

How nice to come across this thread! I used the Digilux 1 for many years, and did some of my best photography with it. In good light it gave superb results. The close up-range was especially good. Here are some photos....
