TMorita Posted July 20, 2017 Share #21 Posted July 20, 2017 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) The SL and the TL both use the same L-mount. The only difference is the sensor size. The L-mount has a 19mm flange distance - it is the same on TL and SL. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flange_focal_distance The reason full frame bodies are usually bigger than APS-C bodies is because full frame lenses are bigger. This is what it looks like when you put a full frame lens (Sony 24-70mm f/2.8) on an APS-C body (NEX-6). Aside from it looking kinda ridiculous, it's not comfortable to hold when shooting. The the lens is pretty heavy and the camera grip is too small to be comfortable. Welcome, dear visitor! Einst_Stein Posted July 20, 2017 Author Share #23 Posted July 20, 2017 TL body should be perfectly suitable with Leica M lenses in handling and balance, far better than, say Sony FF or APSC with its native F2.8 zoom or faster. But TL with Leica SL lens is another story.
frame-it Posted July 20, 2017 Share #24 Posted July 20, 2017 my point was some lenses are not bigger just because they're FF, but also because of AF motors, weather sealing etc etc TL body should be perfectly suitable with Leica M lenses in handling and balance, far better than, say Sony FF or APSC with its native F2.8 zoom or faster. TMorita Posted August 2, 2017 Share #26 Posted August 2, 2017 my point was some lenses are not bigger just because they're FF, but also because of AF motors, weather sealing etc etc There are already full frame L-mount lenses, like the 28-90mm. They are too big for a TL2-sized body because they are designed for an SL body. Leica would have to produce a set of full-frame L-mount lenses to specially fit a full-frame TL-sized body.
