hawk.kat Posted July 11, 2017 Share #1 Posted July 11, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi everyone, I'm looking for my first Leica lens for my M10 and have been looking at 28mm. My "research" has led me to 2 versions of the 28mm Elmarit-M: 11606 and 11677. Are these 2 different lenses or simply different catalogue numbers? a.noctilux Posted July 11, 2017 Share #2 Posted July 11, 2017 Hello, Elmarit-M 2.8/28mm Asph. original has catalog number 11606. I have one, it's small and very good all around lens and it blocks minimal viewfinder, less than the Summicron-M 28mm that I use also. I like almost distorsionless 28mm, this one is also very contrasty lens and no flare even with the sun in picture. Then the new 11677 replaced it some years ago. In place of clip-on hood, the later one uses square screw hood with cut out. You may find 11677 technical data here: http://us.leica-camera.com/Photography/Leica-M/M-Lenses/Elmarit-M-28mm-f-2.8-ASPH2/Downloads

a.noctilux Posted July 11, 2017 Share #4 Posted July 11, 2017 (edited) Description of the last Elmarit-M 2.8/28mm Asph. http://us.leica-camera.com/Photography/Leica-M/M-Lenses/Elmarit-M-28mm-f-2.8-ASPH2 The new hood with cut-out seems nice idea. Hood not usable on old model regrettably. Edited July 11, 2017 by a.noctilux

hawk.kat Posted July 11, 2017 Author Share #6 Posted July 11, 2017 Thanks, folks. The hood seems to be the main difference. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Steve Spencer Posted July 12, 2017 Share #7 Posted July 12, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) It is not just the hood that is new it is also a bit of a reformulation of the lens to reduce field curvature. This may or may not matter for your shooting.
michaelwj Posted July 12, 2017 Share #8 Posted July 12, 2017 Is it just me or does that hood look really big, especially compared to the old square hood. Does anyone have a shot of it from the side with the hood on?
