tonyniev Posted July 9, 2017 Share #21 Posted July 9, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) I reinstalled per above but cannot see the LR6 version? Where do you find the version number of the software running? Even before I reinstalled my standalone LR6 already had the M10 camera profile, when was it updated? I first installed LR6 when I got a new iMac in January, 2017.

Guest Posted July 9, 2017 Share #24 Posted July 9, 2017 well I too have been trying this evening to update my full version of Lightroom, ( version 6.0 ), to the latest version and after a hour or more banging around Adobe's website I have given up for the night. They obviously are trying, successfully in my case, to discourage anyone in upgrading the stand-alone versions and want their clients to join the subscription plans, and I loath that. They are the most frustrating company. Any real clues as to how to find an update?.....and how to download and install before I give up on LR! tonyniev Posted July 9, 2017 Share #25 Posted July 9, 2017 Version shows on home screen when application opens. I'm a fan of LR for my editing , but incorporate ImagePrint 10 for the print phase. LR features are simply described in free videos by Adobe's Julieanne Kost, and books by Scott Kelby. Jeff Jeff This is my home screen on LR no version number

pnoble Posted July 10, 2017 Author Share #29 Posted July 10, 2017 Does anyone know how I can simply redirect the LR CC default location for file storage to my iCloud drive? It shouldn't matter to LR. All files remain on my HD.

Chuck Albertson Posted July 10, 2017 Share #37 Posted July 10, 2017 This might explain.... https://forums.adobe.com/thread/2255541 Jeff Jeff's got it. A few months ago, Adobe installed a stand-alone "application manager" to handle updates for all their products on your machine (stand-alone LR, Acrobat, etc.). When I click on "updates" in the Help menu for LR, it launches the application manager - I've been clicking on that a lot, waiting for them to fix the Map "offline" bug. wlaidlaw Posted July 10, 2017 Share #38 Posted July 10, 2017 I too dislike LR and have ever since the original Beta. I am a CC subscriber and have the latest edition and still like it as little as I did when it first came out. I have been a Capture One user since version 2 but that is another company whose priorities have changed, since this was its main product. MF cameras and digital backs are now their main business and C1 has increasingly become orientated to serving those backs, with raw processing for other cameras thrown in as an extra. They used to be very responsive to customer needs and requests but now just ignore them like many other larger companies. The end users have been asking for a de-haze tool since this first appeared in ACR. You can do it in C1 but it is a multi stage process and not in the end, as effective, so request ignored for about three years now. Phase One also has a very chilly relationship with Leica for the last 8 years or so, since the acquisition talks broke down. This means now that unless a Leica owner lends their camera to Phase One, a profile for the DNG from that camera can take years to get written. There is still no M10 Profile on the latest 10.1.2 version, although you can use the M240 or SL profiles, which are not a million miles out. You would have thought a Danish Leica dealer might have sneaked an M10 into Phase One. Wilson
Guest Posted July 10, 2017 Share #39 Posted July 10, 2017 well I spent hours, ( yes really, hours ), on Adobe's less than transparent website trying to figure out where the hell I could get an update for my Lightroom 6.0 stand alone application which is the one I signed up for for free when I got a M240, but it was all a complete waste of time and energy the net result being that I ended up still with Version 6.0 and a deep loathing for Adobe. I guess, but I don't know for sure, that I would get LR6 version 6.10.1 if I signed up for the LR yearly/monthly subscription plan but I dislike subscription plans and don't want to join one the effort involved in getting an up-to-date stand-alone plan seems to be designed solely to force you into giving up on it and going the subscription route...........So even though I do like LR I guess I'm at an impasse if I want or need to upgrade for any reason. I have Affinity and like the interface quite a lot, but learning another application when I am quite content with the current one is a real pain and absorbs so much time and evaporating even more brain pixels. Has anyone out there tried Affinity and if so how does it work for you?
wlaidlaw Posted July 10, 2017 Share #40 Posted July 10, 2017 This worked a few months ago but I cannot guarantee it working today. A friend who had tried to update his standalone version of LR6 via the CC desktop app had corrupted his copy of LR6 and did not have any idea of what to do. What I did was to download the trial version of LR6 from http://www.adobe.com/uk/products/catalog.html?filters=pf_252Fdesktop . I then put in his serial number from the original copy of LR6, that he had generated from the code he had been given by Leica and that activated the up to date trial version. However I would strongly recommend that before doing this, if you have a working albeit out of date version of LR6, is to sandbox it, along with its plist files, application support files, log files and caches so that if the update does not work, you can reinstall your original version. If you have a copy of Clean my Mac or App Uninstaller and ask it to look at uninstalling LR (don't actually do it!!!!) then that will show you all the linked files before you say "clean". You can then use Spotlight to locate all the linked files. Note their location before sandboxing, as you may need to put them back in the same locations, if the trial version does not activate. I hope you are on Mac, otherwise a lot of the above will be different in detail on Windows. It is so long since I used this, I am reluctant to give any advice on that.
