Leica Summilux 35mm f/1.4 ASPH FLE review

Thank you for sharing this well observed review. It's informative and useful even to someone like me who already owns and uses the lens. For the same weight and size reasons you mention, I tend to take the Summicron-M 35 f/2 ASPH along in preference to this when traveling. Only slight drawback is that mine is the chrome/brass version. It's more compact, but as you point out, weighs more than the aluminum version. It doesn't feel much lighter than the lux. My lightest 35, and probably the lightest lens I own, is the Type IV. It's great on film but on the M9 or even the MM1, I get better results with the other two.

Great review - thanks! I too love my 35FLE but tend not to bring it along for travel - my fave travel 35 is the happily underrated 35cron V3. I don't find the FLE that much heavier. What affects me more it I find it sticks out more with its length (especially with its hood on and I almost never have a hood for my 35 cron) (I cross sling my camera always). But your review reminds me to just use it more - some/many times it's a matter of being used to something.
