Problem with 6 Bit Flange from eBay: 28mm ASPH Binding

I purchased some of the 6 bit flange adapters on eBay (China). I installed on my 21mm Elmarit and works great..Code reads and lens functions fine.

I installed the second flange on my 28mm ASPH Summicron. The code reads well but the focusing binds (hard to turn). I swapped back

to the original flange and the lens focuses properly with no binding. I put the 6 bit adapter back on and it binds again. The lens rotates but not smooth like original flange.

Are the screws too long for the replacement adapter perhaps?

Possibly the screws are torqued differently for each screw.

 

Try this:

Torque them as evenly as you can and try adjusting them a couple of times. You should hit it where it will work smoothly.

Will try that. I did notice the more screws I put in the more it bound up.

Try tightening them a little at a time in the same pattern as lug nuts........across from each other until all are tight but not over torqued.

I retightened them as indicated and smooth as silk. Just like factory mount.
