135mm f/3.4 APO Telyt-M Lens

Recommended Posts

Anyone care to post an image or two. I'm in the same boat. Just picked up an SL and am shooting with my 21 SEM, 28 Cron Asph, 50 Lux Asph and 90 APO and am considering the 135. Interested in colour, contrast etc as this is a lens designed pre-digital,

Frame-it & Jplomley,   I use the 135mm Apo-Telyt-M f/3.4 for landscape and street photography.   It is superb on the SL; easy to focus, excellent balance, resolution, color, contrast and with the right light, 3D pop.  It has a great way of drawing.  www.PebblePlace.com has a good write up about the lens with photo examples.  I also get beautiful images with the M10 using the Visioflex finder.  Without the Visioflex finder, the lens for me, is hard to nail focus.  You won't be disappointed.  Last, you can always rent the lens via LensRentals and try before you buy.   r/ Mark

I like the 135, but have always found it difficult to use on the M9 or on the M240, as rangefinder focusing is at its limits.  But this thread got me to try mine on the M10, with a Visoflex VF20 mounted, and it was rather enjoyable, using the rangefinder just to get started, then fine-focusing with magnification.  Here are two samples:

The improved high ISO performance of the M10 made this a relatively easy exercise, but the long lens still feels unbalanced on that little camera.  I think I will continue to use the 135 on the SL.
