tifh21 Posted June 14, 2017 Share #1 Posted June 14, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) I've posted before here trying to choose between an M or the Q, ended up getting the M but after a couple of months I've decided to let it go and go for the Q instead 1.) bec even though i'm young i have very poor eyesight so the Q would be easier 2.) Q is lighter and i'm pretty content on just having one lens since i also have a fuji system if i need more reach anyway, my question is would it be better to wait for a good priced used one or just pickup a brand new one now? i mean is the Q still worth it to buy as brand new since it's already 2 yrs old? just asking. Im hoping you guys can give me your opinions:)
Advertisement Posted June 14, 2017 Posted June 14, 2017 Hi tifh21, Take a look here brand new or used?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
low325 Posted June 14, 2017 Share #2 Posted June 14, 2017 I would save a few bucks and purse a used one. I hate to say this but the cameras/lenses as such arewell taken care of and imo it's certainly safe to purchase second hand when the price is right. prk60091 Posted June 14, 2017 Share #3 Posted June 14, 2017 the discount for a used Q is not that great... plus you get 3 months of LR and the full 3yr warranty. . . if the 3 months of LR doesn't entice you then the full warranty might. . . lucerne Posted June 14, 2017 Share #4 Posted June 14, 2017 2 years warranty in the UK. Also bear in mind that the price of the Q has risen 25% since launch in 2015 Some private sellers base their asking price on what they paid, so there are some very fair offers around. The price of the Q has remained the same in the United States since it was launched - $4,250.

I purchased a used Q in immaculate condition about 2 months ago for $900 less than the price of a new one. I see that saving as a form of self-insurance. If I ever need repairs, that's where the money will come from. I realize that the cost might exceed $900, but that's a risk that I am willing to take. Rob You obtained the Q at a very good price. I think the price of the used Q goes a long way to make the decision on whether to buy new or used. I think you did very well on your purchase. brickftl Posted June 16, 2017 Share #9 Posted June 16, 2017 (edited) I bought my lightly used, mint condition Q several months ago for $3,600. That included a Thumbs Up grip, extra battery, hand grip (which I don't use) and some other odds and ends. It has performed flawlessly, couldn't be happier. viramati Posted June 16, 2017 Share #10 Posted June 16, 2017 If you buy from a reputable dealer (better still a Leica one) that offers you some sort of warranty you should have no problem. I would take a couple of shots of a clear blue sky with the lens stopped down just to check that there is no dust on the sensor. Other than that it is a well made reliable camera
ricky1981 Posted June 25, 2017 Share #11 Posted June 25, 2017 Leica have no issue with transferring a warranty so I'd go used as long as you can find one from a reputable dealer/seller. I saved about 30% buying by titanium Q second hand, if I do ever sell it then I should be able to recoup nearly all of that which is nice to know if financial circumstances forced me to sell. tifh21 Posted June 27, 2017 Author Share #12 Posted June 27, 2017 Someone offered a barely used black one for a good enough price. I think I'll end up getting that. Will check the unit tom.

robgo2 Posted July 8, 2017 Share #15 Posted July 8, 2017 talking about used, a RX1 is only around $1000, very tempting I have an RX1 which has provided me with many great photos, but I grew tired of dealing with the usability issues. No doubt, it is an excellent choice for those who understand and can accept the camera's limitations. Personally, I am much happier with the Q, though the price difference is huge even on the used market.
