Advertisement Posted June 7, 2017 Posted June 7, 2017 Hi andybarton, Take a look here Walking in Swaledale. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
alun Posted June 8, 2017 Share #2 Posted June 8, 2017 Andy, I like this -- but largely for the abstraction of its shapes and textures and perspective. I may even have preferred it without the people, oddly enough (never a very helpful comment, I know: they're there!). There is such a pure and timeless and isolated landscape there -- and one thinks of some of HC-B's landscapes where the emphasis is almost entirely own landscape-as-abstraction... Anyway, as usual, much enjoyed and food for thought.
andybarton Posted June 8, 2017 Author Share #3 Posted June 8, 2017 Thanks Alun I posted a B&W film version taken a couple of years before this one, a couple of days ago, which got me thinking about that one last night. https://www.l-camera-forum.com/topic/205842-i-like-filmopen-thread/?p=3290309
alun Posted June 8, 2017 Share #4 Posted June 8, 2017 Aha -- I see! I wonder if that earlier one is what I was thinking of? In any case, the present version is preferable, I think -- the crop/perspective of the earlier one excludes much of that winding, looping path and the echoing wall, and that is what gives this present version such a rhythm. It's almost like calligraphy. We'll have to live with the walkers
