dr_sese Posted June 2, 2017 Share #1 Posted June 2, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Is anyone using the RRS camera plate's option to attach a loop for a more convenient carrying of the camera? If so what loop would you recommend? I have found this one (http://www.eddycam.com/en/shop/slings/SLiNG-2-L-hand-strap.html) online but I am not sure how well it works and fits (w/o battery grip attached). The original Leica S-loop is also meant to be used in combination with the battery grip. That's why I am concerned that both loops are a bit too long when used with the RRS plate. thighslapper Posted June 2, 2017 Share #2 Posted June 2, 2017 (edited) None of these options work well if you are going to change between battery grip and normal + baseplate. Re-attaching most handgrips/straps is a pain. Threads have discussed this in the past ..... this was my contribution .....https://www.l-camera-forum.com/topic/267283-hows-the-sl-stock-carry-strap/page-2?do=findComment&comment=3202180 Several of us use the cheap Herringbone strap and it is comfortable and works well ..... but it is a bit of a permanent fixture due to complicated attachment method. dr_sese Posted June 2, 2017 Author Share #3 Posted June 2, 2017 Sorry for the confusion. I don't want to change between battery grip and RRS plate. I will just use the camera plate. It's just that the loops I saw were always shown or designed for cameras with a battery grip attached... The Herringbone strap looks good, thanks! RRS sell a leather strap as well and a lot cheaper also they sell the magpul slings as well I would just buy straight from them with the plate they are really helpful if you phone them Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Ingo Posted June 2, 2017 Share #5 Posted June 2, 2017 I'm using the eddycam in M with the RRS BSL plate. Works perfect and I will post a photo later.
LocalHero1953 Posted June 2, 2017 Share #6 Posted June 2, 2017 I've been using the Herringbone for more than a year, and would recommend it with the proviso mentioned about it being slow to remove once attached. I tried the Spider Pro first - poor attachment design IMO.

dr_sese Posted June 7, 2017 Author Share #8 Posted June 7, 2017 Thank you all, especially Ingo for the photo!I just received the camdapter loop. The first impression wasn't completely positive. Installation is a bit tricky, there is no chance to attach/detach it on the fly. Second observation was that the leather part of the loop is pretty long - probably too long for my hand size. But this looks similar with the eddycam strap. I used to have Nikon AH-4 for other cameras. That seemed to fit a bit better and allowed for a more secure handling. If I find it I will try whether it matches to the SL as well...
sarkleshark Posted June 11, 2017 Share #9 Posted June 11, 2017 Hi. here is what I do: I have an RRS base plate or battery vertical grip. Both have another strap attachment site at the bottom. I attach a BOS Strap BOS Tail to each strap attachment site (Each BOS tail is $10) THe BOS tail is a 4inch long strap which attatches to the camera in the usual way at one end and a solid metal ring at the other end. I use a BLackRapid sling strap to clip onto both rings. THe Black rapid straps have a locking clip . THis leaves the bottom of the camera free to attach to monopod or tripod via socket or arca swiss plate. I can quickly detach the sling strap or change base plate for battery grip. I find the camera hangs and rests at my side much better with two attachment points on the grip side of the camera and this setup does not impede grabbing the camera quickly. I will try to post pictures

HugoSC Posted June 14, 2017 Share #11 Posted June 14, 2017 Hello, For those of you using the Herringbone is it a correct assumption on my part that you are using the "Type 2" straps rather than Type 1? Thank you to all that have provided pics and info. Very helpful. I am using the RRS grip on mine and the Herringbone looks like just rhe ticket for me.
