Need advice for a Leica M6

Greetings Leica Enthusiasts,

Recently my mother gave me an old camera that some lady wanted to throw away. All I know is that it's a Leica M6 and the names of the lenses included were Summilux 1:1.4/50; Elmarit-M 1:2.8/28; Summicron-M 1:2/90. The bag also contained a flash. It's a Metz mecablitz 20 BC 3. And the leather bag itself is from Leitz and is apparently made for the camera. All the things are in usable shape but not exactly like they came fresh out of the factory. I don't know anything about these cameras, neither can I ask the man who bought them, because the camera belonged to the old lady's husband who died many years ago. I added pictures to a public dropbox folder. If anynone could just take a look over these pictures and tell me where the serial number is on a M6 or from what year the camera or the lenses are, I would really appreciate that. Of course I will take any other form of information and help, so thank you all in advance. Lastly I would like to apologize if I included some grammar mistakes since English is not my native tongue. That's a very nice set to receive, with 3 very good lenses. The serial number of the camera is engraved on the flash hotshoe.

You can download a manual from the web, put some new batteries in the camera and load it with film. Shooting a test roll is the best way to check that the camera is working correctly.

Thank you very much, I already found out the Years that the camera and the lenses were made in so all that's left for me to do is to buy some films and take loads of pictures. If anything good comes out I'll make sure to post it here.

And if you're interested:

What a great gift. The M6 is a lovely camera and that's a very nice set of lenses. And welcome to LUF, too.

Do post your photos in the I like film thread started by Doc Henry. That's where film happens on the internet.

Best, and looking forward to your photos

Philip

I know. I just realised it may seems like I've stolen it. The lady probably justwanted to get rid of all the things that reminded her of her husband. Apparently she is also very rich so I don't think she ever cared about the money.

Buy it.

I had a similar case, do not feel guilty. My case was where a widow 'just wanted it gone'. She was financially comfortable, so I got it for $60 USD.  A snapshot here. Voigtlander #7 Euryscop.
