Einst_Stein Posted May 29, 2017 Share #1 Posted May 29, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) As an old gereration camera, Digilux has much lower usable ISO. But the absolute ISO is not necessary a meaningful matrix. Theoretically you can amplify the signal with any amplification gain, but it does nitnecessary hold the details. ... like you can use a super amplifier to amplify the music to let the whole town to hear it, but t does not necessary sound beautifully. Dynamic rangeis is also not just means a wide data size Analog/Digital converter. Using 16-bit Color depth sampling ADC does not necessary mean the extra few bits can really capture more information. It is like using the best tape recorder to record a music in a noisy and bad music hall. Not matter how god is the sensor ADC, an imgage from a bad lens is still a bad image, it is garbage in garbage out. Said that, how is Digilux 2 effectively, appreaciatable dynamic range?, say compare to other Panasonic breed Dlux, or Fujifilm X30? And how was it tested?

lct Posted May 29, 2017 Share #2 Posted May 29, 2017 I'm no techie at all but amplifying a noisy signal can hardly remove its noise IMHO. To compare apples and oranges, my Pany Lx100 (DL 109's clone) is cleaner at 3200 iso than my Digilux 1 was at 200 iso. FWIW.
