After visiting Photographica on Sunday 21 May 2017 I went to Speakers' Corner to try some people / crowd photos using Sony A7S / Leica Elmarit R 19/2.8 … moving in close / mixing with spectators … camera mostly pointed down whilst held above my head … using the articulated screen to compose.

Great work Dunk. You certainly had a more varied day than I had, but I had a flight to Dublin to catch after Photographica. They are all great, but my favourite is number 4; I see John standing behind getting ready to shoot. If only we could deal with all issues troubling our world on an international Speaker's Corner.

Thank you William and good to see you and chat last Sunday.  Speakers' Corner is usually a hub of activity and some of the smartphone hardware in use to record the goings-on is quite sophisticated compared to a few years ago when I last visited. Another trip beckons asap … when also hope to improve on the 'Window Cleaner' image  https://www.l-camera-forum.com/topic/272736-the-window-cleaner-statue-edgware-road-tube-station/?p=3279838   :)

I'm enjoying using the Leica 19mm Elmarit R (Mk II) … but forgot to pack the hood … However, in the very bright/sunny light it coped well even when used against the light.

Regards

Nice pictures dunk

I cannot see where the lens hood could have helped.

The 19mm wide angle and the heads in the corners could be better here and there. OK, it is a geometric projection.

Hi Jan, In some other photos the Sun did cause flare … but with a hood, flare might have been reduced. Any 19mm distortion is to be expected when lens is pointed downwards … I'm happy to have some distortion if the photo shows the action. The Sony A7S' semi-articulated screen is very useful for overhead imaging.
