Is this corrosion on my MM1?

I'm depressed at the recent change in Leica policy as I bought both my M9-P and MM new and was satisfied that Leica would support my "loyalty" to them given the multitude of my purchases.   (also bought new M240, Q and SL + most of their M ASPH lenses)

I just took photos of a blue sky with both the M9-P and MM with my 50mm closed down (f16) at infinity focus.  The M9-P shows only small round spots without white halos so it is corrosion free.

Of the many tiny black spots on the MM, there is only one which has a "halo" around it.  On the attached .png file (screen capture from LR6), is this corrosion and if so, since it is the only one, for opinions of the forum members, would you send it in for a sensor replacement.  I bought 12/12 so am on the cusp of Leica's warranty timeframe.

YMC226,   I sent my MM in for the same type spots and Leica replaced the sensor.  I suggest you do as JAAPV recommends...send it to Leica Germany and they will determine if the sensor needs replacement.  r/ Mark

Yes, good ideas above, have a panic and send it in. Or, now this is just a working idea, you could try cleaning the sensor before depriving yourself of the camera for months. I suspect it will need a wet clean, but this easy to do yourself, and if you can't shift the spot (you will shift the other spots) then send it in. The spot you point to looks like a spot of moisture or oil that has dried, and these can be stubborn to clean anyway, but come on, do you send your car back to the manufacturer to be washed?

Thanks all.  I just dropped off in person at Leica's New Jersey repair center.  The service rep took a look at my picture and agreed it was corrosion.  She stated it would take 12 weeks.

Send it to Germany directly skip the freaking NJ Leica disaster.

The policy change likely explains why the repair time at the New Jersey facility has increased from 10 to 12 weeks. I was informed that they had received an influx of cameras for sensor replacement.

I called to follow up and was told it was sensor corrosion on the phone. I was then emailed a document stating the sensor needed replacement due to separation and 3 hours were required. They did not mention that I would be responsible for the cost but increased their timeframe of repair from 12 to 20 weeks.
