andybarton Posted June 22, 2007 Share #1 Posted June 22, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) My two year old Coolscan went T.U. a few weeks ago, and I have just received the invoice for the repairs - the scanner still hasn't returned. The repair bill (it needed a new printed circuit board) was around £250. That's half the price of a new one. Absolutely outrageous. I will [probably] never buy a Nikon product again. I had a Panasonic LC5 on which the lens stopped working after about 2 years. That was replaced f.o.c. I think it's only in Canada where Nikon covers 2 years for scanners while elsewhere has only one. Perhaps you should scan less and shoot more with your DMR. LOL Good luck. I try NOT to remember the cost, but the real crunch was a two month wait for a $10 part. I try to see it in perspective. My car service regularly costs me more than my scanner 'service' and that is considerered a normal expectation. In the real world (is that where we are?) all things come at a cost + running costs, like it or not. Hey, I'm not happy, just pragmatic. If you paid half the cost of a new car, for a service after two years, you'd not think that you were getting a very good deal... They completed the repair last week, and I paid for it.
