Hello,

Blue color Monochrom Historica is simply beautiful!   Is the only difference to the regular monochrom the leather color?

Google is your friend!

Two minutes and I found this,

"Leica HISTORICA eV is a photo-historical company based in Wetzlar and was founded in 1975 by Theo Kisselbach, Georg Mann and others. The aim of the association is the research into the development and development history of Leica and the Leica system. Leica HISTORICA eV is a registered association based in Wetzlar (district court Wetzlar, register number VR 852). Today, the association has more than 400 members, about one fifth of whom are abroad.

So, 40 years anniversary.

Oldphart.

You'd think with all their knowledge they'd have at least make it look good, maybe a nod back to a historical design? 1975 was the last year of both the M4 and M5 production, surely they could have referenced that somehow?

Instead it's just a blue leather and a nasty engraving.

Everybody will remember the 1970's with great fondness for the pinnacles reached in iconic design. Everything from the brown and orange décor of myriad Universities to the Austin Allegro (especially the mustard colour choice) captured the heart inspired the mind, so why not recapture the moment with this great 'Historica' camera from Leica, truly a throwback marvel!

There have been many of these engraved camera batches in the past, especially with the M6. Some have achieved collector's value, many not.

As it is, I do like the colour of this one (but Cameraleather supplies something very similar) but the engraving seems rather overdone in size and underwhelming in design.

MAYBE all the Historicas have the corrosion-free sensor ....  B)

Obviously, Leica would never dare to offer them corrosive sensors, because some members call themselves ironically "Leica hysterics"... :D

This special edition M Monochrom (Typ 246) was announced in Vidom 109 (june 2015), for the members of Leica Historica. Actually there were two items offered, the other one is a APO-Summicron-M 1:2/90mm ASPH. Both items with the same kind of engraving. On the photos together they look like a beautiful set, albeit out of reach.
