Michael Hiles Posted May 9, 2017 Share #1 Posted May 9, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) As we drove up to a bluff overlooking the Mara River, Kenya, there was a commotion to our right. Two Hippos came thundering up the hill towards where we were. The chasee had clearly offended the older and larger chaser and was being warned off. It was amazing how fast the animals ran – they are huge (much bigger than your grandfather’s Oldsmobile). And dangerous. Our Chasee ducked into a bush, trying to hide and put the incident behind him, and after a few moments, he peeked out to get the lay of the land and probably us. He looked downright sheepish, as I hope this not-so-wonderful but memorable-to-me picture might convey. An amazing experience. Welcome, dear visitor! Michael Hiles Posted May 10, 2017 Author Share #5 Posted May 10, 2017 Thanks, all. It is interesting that all the animals we encountered were completely unfazed by our vehicle. It apparently did not dawn on them that the vehicles contained humans. As a result, we often got very close to Lions, Giraffe, Buffalo, Elephants, Cheetahs. All wonderful. Michael Hiles Posted May 14, 2017 Author Share #7 Posted May 14, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Michael, Great tale fine photograph. You're lucky the creature didn't realize that you compared him to a sheep. Many thanks Al. These big animals are not to trifle with. At the time I just thought "nice hippo", an made no attempt to strengthen any bonds. And he has no relatives close to here who know where I live.
