Photomic38 Posted May 9, 2017 Share #1 Posted May 9, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Small question about the M262 to specialists. I bought the bundle two months ago and I am thinking of using this device for late spring. Is it possible to equip it with an SD card Wifi, the connection by a USB cable connection to the computer not provided on this camera ? Thank you for your answers . Advertisement Posted May 9, 2017 Posted May 9, 2017 Hi Photomic38, Take a look here Leica M Type 262 with SD card Wifi ?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
papimuzo Posted May 10, 2017 Share #2 Posted May 10, 2017 Yes you can use a WiFI card without problem (i am using an EyesWifi card - now christened in Keenai business - with my M-D 262). Only you have to be patient as the transfert takes time.
Photomic38 Posted May 10, 2017 Author Share #3 Posted May 10, 2017 Thank you, Marcel, for answering. In the menu of my X-Vario, it's possible to select the function "flashair" to activate the transfer to the computer. This function does not exist in the menu of the M 262, how is transfer in this case? Permanent? Jacques
Echo63 Posted May 11, 2017 Share #4 Posted May 11, 2017 I had a flashair card in my M240. I found the card write speeds too slow (shooting Jpeg and Raw) for the things i was shooting - and went back to a Sandisk extreme card without wifi. The toshiba flashair card needs setting up using an app on your computer - once it is setup it turns the wifi on when the camera is powered on. If nothing connects to the wifi in 5 minutes it turns off. Pulling photos over to my phone used a flashair app, and it worked perfectly with Jpegs, it didnt see the raw files
Photomic38 Posted May 11, 2017 Author Share #5 Posted May 11, 2017 Thank you Echo63 for the information. It is therefore the computer which controls the card. I thought the flashair cards had poor writing performance. So I will like you opt for a Sandisk Ex pro. Thanks again . Jacques

Jacques A computer is needed to setup how the card behaves. After setup is completed (which needs redoing after every format) the card creates its own wifi network that devices can connect to
papimuzo Posted May 14, 2017 Share #7 Posted May 14, 2017 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) As expressed above, once the setting-up through the install WiFI card software (includes Windows driver Eyes-FI card), card is recognized into the PC computer network. The link becomes active as soon you power the camera and take a picture. No other action needed. Jpeg or DNG files are stored in directories created when installing the Wificard tools. BTW: tranfering a DNG 26.1 Mb file takes roughly 75 s. Edited May 14, 2017 by papimuzo
Photomic38 Posted May 30, 2017 Author Share #8 Posted May 30, 2017 Thank you Marcel for the info. The transfer is really long! Transfer 200 photos, plan the day! I abandoned the idea, I finally use a Sandisk ExtremePro 32 GB Jacques
JeTexas Posted May 30, 2017 Share #9 Posted May 30, 2017 I've found the best use for wifi cards is not to transfer all the files off of the camera, but to be able to download one or two photos to your phone for immediate posting to Instagram, Facebook, Flickr, etc.
papimuzo Posted May 31, 2017 Share #10 Posted May 31, 2017 Yes, on some occasion with the M-D, you would like to see some infos (about lense used i.e.) before going out. Must add a recent bad news: (at least on my install on my PC), the updated Windows 10 version ("Creative.. blah blah" version 1703) apparently killed the good work of WIFI transfert from my Eyecard!! No cure up to now, even after re-installing the program (Kenai version). The cards are seen by the WiFi network but pictures transfert doen't work.
Photon42 Posted May 31, 2017 Share #11 Posted May 31, 2017 I cannot really recommend it for Eyefi and DNG files, because it just takes ages. JPG may be a different story.
