Advertisement Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 Hi Paulus, Take a look here Curious who gets the # 5,000,000. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
wattsy Posted May 3, 2017 Share #2 Posted May 3, 2017 (edited) As I pointed out in the other thread, I think you mean 5,000,000. There are 16,500 cameras to go. Maybe Leica will put it in their museum? Edited May 3, 2017 by wattsy

pop Posted May 3, 2017 Share #6 Posted May 3, 2017 Why 5'000'000 and not 4'999'999 which appears to be the largest prime <5'000'000 ? (http://my.core.com/~katiemarie10/prime/prime4G-5G.htm)
semi-ambivalent Posted May 3, 2017 Share #7 Posted May 3, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Leica assigns serial numbers in blocks. I can't believe those blocks are always used in full so 5000000 does not equate to 5.000.000 cameras/lenses/units sold. It's just an arrangement of characters, found to be pleasing in the same manner our brains "see" the Big Dipper or Orion's belt. But the stars don't care do they. It's the sort of kerfuffle Leica uses to keep their name out there but if it moves more product having less admirable serial numbers I'm all for it. Perhaps it will stop the price increases so young people can possibly buy new Leicas rather than wearing old broken ones as jewelry. Clouds and rain here today. wattsy Posted May 3, 2017 Share #8 Posted May 3, 2017 Apparently M10 bodies are already using serial numbers in the 5xxxxxx range so the original question is moot. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Guest Posted May 3, 2017 Share #9 Posted May 3, 2017 The question was answered already. Also the one regarding who owns 5 000 005 Is five a lucky number in China? I wish Leica the M body # 8 888 888 asap. What is the highest lens number in May 17?
Herr Barnack Posted May 23, 2017 Share #10 Posted May 23, 2017 (edited) Camera #5,000,000 will probably be gold plated and encrusted with diamonds. It has most likely already been sold to an anonymous billionaire from Asia for $5,000,000. Just a guess... Martin B Posted May 23, 2017 Share #11 Posted May 23, 2017 As serial numbers are approaching the 5.000.000. I'm curious who would get this camera. Do you have/can propose some candidates? Remains likely at Leica itself - as exhibit piece in the new Leica park in Wetzlar.
