When this adapter was released in 2015 there were numerous reports of communication issues between the adapter and the HB lenses .  Since then Leica has released two firmware updates aimed at improving this “BUG”.

I am attempting to mate a HB 300/4.5AF Hc lens to the adapter and a S 007 .   Even with the new firmware in the camera I am getting communication issues .   AF works initially and is excellent but then seems to turn off (similar to a power save on the camera ..which is set to never time out...SETTING OFF).

Since both the camera, adapter and HB lens are all new condition with clean contacts ...its appears to be a firmware issue (not mechanical connection) .   The adapter has firmware but does not seem to be updatable thru the S ....similar to a S lens .  So I have no way to know if the adapter firmware is up to date ?

The HB lens is new old stock ..the version with a top synch of 1/750 .

I am returning the adapter because the seller had no experience making it work and the early product was often replaced by Leica service .  Another one is on the way to be tested .

My understanding is that those who have been successful have gone thru several copies of the adapter to find one that works reliably .

The results of the combination seem to be worthwhile producing excellent image quality and the HB lens is built similar to a Leica S lens ...a nice addition if you require a longer lens .

Same here had my Leica S adapter C replaced since it had issues, and same for the H adapter.

The second ones I got were perfect though and have been working as reliably as native Leica s lenses.
