Leicaiste Posted April 27, 2017 Share #1 Posted April 27, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Steffen Skopp (SL product mgr) posted a photo of an SL body with a prototype of the 75mm lens. I noticed the display showed the camera to be in "S" mode. I asked what that was and he responded with only a wink. New mode coming? Just a debug mode for testing new lenses? Very curious. https://instagram.com/p/BSoDnEoAXvo/ To bad there is no sliding lens hood like on the R Summicron 90/2.
Advertisement Posted April 27, 2017 Posted April 27, 2017 Hi Leicaiste, Take a look here SL Summicron 75/2 prototype. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
YellowBelly Posted April 27, 2017 Share #2 Posted April 27, 2017 Wonderful something positive and exciting to see there's more development of the camera as well . Maybe it's a S=Synchronisation mode with in camera wifi and flash systems? 1/3200@f2 anything is possible :-) Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
LocalHero1953 Posted April 27, 2017 Share #3 Posted April 27, 2017 That looks like a very neat and manageable size. I believe the 90 will be the same.
tom0511 Posted April 27, 2017 Share #4 Posted April 27, 2017 I am looking forward to smaller lenses.

jrp Posted April 27, 2017 Share #6 Posted April 27, 2017 This lens will fight for attention with the manual 75mm M lenses, past and (Noctiluix) future.

Leicaiste Posted April 28, 2017 Author Share #8 Posted April 28, 2017 I certainly hope the AF on the three SL Summicron's will be much snappier than on the SL 50/1,4. If so, I will buy my first native lens for my favourite camera. [emoji6]
caissa Posted April 28, 2017 Share #9 Posted April 28, 2017 (edited) S = Silent Mode ? Electronic shutter mode, like the A9. That would be great. When is the next firmware update due ? I will probably rather wait for the SL 90. Or even better for a macro lens. Does anybody know the min focus distance ? saxo Posted April 28, 2017 Share #10 Posted April 28, 2017 I'll wait for the 90mm as well. The dimension of all three forthcoming primes (75,90,35) are about the same, as far as seen on published photos. But details will be published when the lenses arrive. The alternatives are for example the ART lenses of novoflex.

IkarusJohn Posted April 29, 2017 Share #12 Posted April 29, 2017 I'm holding out for macro, I think; perhaps a nice fast prime tele (180/2.8?); and something good at the wide end. I don't have 35mm covered, but I prefer 28mm ...

Craggs 101 Posted June 12, 2017 Share #14 Posted June 12, 2017 Any more news and rumours out there? When will it be available and how much is it likely to cost? Given the apparent difficulty of meeting demand for the SL 50mm (and the M10) I'm wondering if Leica have the capacity to meet their roadmap or timeline of lenses in people's hands. I keep putting off buying the Summicron-M 75mm in case the SL version is reasonably priced and/or has any significant advantages (other then the obvious AF). Is it going to be worth the wait...? Guest VVJ Posted June 12, 2017 Share #16 Posted June 12, 2017 The advantages will be AF and weather sealing. And focusing distance.
geetee1972 Posted June 12, 2017 Share #17 Posted June 12, 2017 And focusing distance. Interesting point. What is it on the M version? I'm guessing 1m?
wattsy Posted June 12, 2017 Share #18 Posted June 12, 2017 75/F2 is 0.7m. 75/F1.4 is, I think, 0.75m.

Irakly Shanidze Posted June 12, 2017 Share #20 Posted June 12, 2017 To bad there is no sliding lens hood like on the R Summicron 90/2. New lens hoods of a so-called perfect shape are much more effective. Although plastic does break, like on my 24-
