Csacwp Posted April 14, 2017 Share #1 Posted April 14, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) In terms of sharpness and smoothness of bokeh, how do the 180mm f2 Apo, 180mm f2.8 Apo, and 280mm f4 apo compare?
Advertisement Posted April 14, 2017 Posted April 14, 2017 Hi Csacwp, Take a look here Help choosing long telephoto. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
spydrxx Posted April 14, 2017 Share #2 Posted April 14, 2017 I've only owned the 180s in the past and both were terrific...can't comment on the bokeh as I never pay attention to that, it's too subjective to measure. But if you're really looking for a LONG telephoto for the Leicaflex or R series, the 400/6.3 Telyt really fits the bill, sharp center rapidly fading as one moves toward the periphery, excellent color correction as well. I think this shot was at f/8 to get a little greater DOF as these guys were moving around pretty quickly. Welcome, dear visitor! wildlightphoto Posted April 14, 2017 Share #3 Posted April 14, 2017 I have not used the 180/2 APO but comparing the 180/2.8 APO and 280/4 APO I'd say the 180 has smoother bokeh and the 280 is the sharper lens.

Csacwp Posted April 16, 2017 Author Share #6 Posted April 16, 2017 I'm thinking the 180mm lenses might be more versatile for my needs. How does the sharpness of the 180mm f2.8 Apo compare to the 100mm macro Apo?
