AlexP Posted April 10, 2017 Share #1 Posted April 10, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm super excited to report that the new Sigma 135ART has super fast AF when pair up with the SL. It is also much smaller compare to the 85ART.
Advertisement Posted April 10, 2017 Posted April 10, 2017 Hi AlexP, Take a look here Sigma 135mm f/1.8 ART + Leica SL. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
YellowBelly Posted April 10, 2017 Share #2 Posted April 10, 2017 I don't suppose you'll be able so show use a few portraits with these two lenses? Thank you Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thank you Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk That not going to happen. Sorry. I'm not a reviewer or un-boxing type.. My main purpose here is to report/confirm/test the comparability of lenses that will work with the SL via novoflex adapter.
Robert E Posted April 10, 2017 Share #4 Posted April 10, 2017 AlexP, Could you please enlighten us as to the Novoflex adapter and lenses, is it Nikon or Canon mount?
AlexP Posted April 10, 2017 Author Share #5 Posted April 10, 2017 Robert, It is novoflex eos-sl version. Canon mount
saxo Posted May 12, 2017 Share #6 Posted May 12, 2017 Fast AF is good news, but what about pic quality? Anybody with experience? Does IQ comes close to the 90-280 SL at comparable focal length, or even better? Thanks!

Thanks for the info and testing. I will give the 135 a try.
AlexP Posted May 12, 2017 Author Share #9 Posted May 12, 2017 How does it compare to the Canon 135 f2 L? There are plenty threads on the net that compare these 2 lenses. I have both and i'm not going into the compare war. I sold the 135L. As for AF with SL, the sigma is faster.

ramarren Posted May 12, 2017 Share #11 Posted May 12, 2017 (edited) Um ... The Sigma Art 135mm f/1.8 can stop down to f/2.8-f/4, can't it? How does its imaging compare to the SL90-280 at, say, f/5.6-f/8 where I would likely use it most? How about its image stabilization? Tripod mount?, et cetera. Considering that the Sigma Art 135mm f/1.8 plus Novoflex SL/Canon EF mount adapter costs a healthy chunk of what the SL90-280mm lens costs (about $2300 vs $6000), it's important to understand what you're getting for your money. A fast lens is nice, but the razor-thin depth of field you can get at f/1.8 is only one aspect of why one might consider it. Rent the Sigma 135 and 90-280 and compare to yourself. I have 90-280 but i'll not do the compare as i've said many times before, it is just a waste of time to do comparing. Sorry buddy. My goal here is to test and report back about Auto Focus with Novoflex EOS/Sl adapter only.
AlexP Posted May 12, 2017 Author Share #14 Posted May 12, 2017 Thanks, the AF speed was what I was curious about. That's impressive because the 135L's AF is very fast. It is very fast when mount to Canon camera. Once it mount to Novoflex EOS/SL, it is slower than Sigma. The 135L sometime just hunts for no reason too. My goal here is to test and report back about Auto Focus with Novoflex EOS/Sl adapter only. So why don't you put this into the other thread dedicated to compatibility with the Novoflex EOS/SL adapter, https://www.l-camera-forum.com/topic/269686-novoflex-canon-ef-lens-to-leica-sl-adapter-list-of-compatibletested-lenses/, which you started? Why start a whole thread dedicated to ONE lens and whether it's AF works well with the adapter? Sheesh. (I already own the SL90-280. I'll never buy either the Novoflex adapter or a Sigma lens.)
