Leica M10 or Monochrom 2?

I make the choice when shooting my M10 for color or b/w rendering. The computer replaces my b/w darkroom. Old school with new tools. My brain and eyes remain.

Topic Title

very subjective topic. Only you can answer this. Should I buy a 2 bedroom in city or 3 bedroom in suburbs. Also, if you have to ask, you should go with M10 because you clearly won't be happy with Monochrom. Not with the output of the camera but having a camera that does only B&W.

I own both the M10 and the MM2.

 

I have done quite a few conversions to black and white from the M10 this week, using Lightroom and Silver Efex Pro 2. Simply put, the M10 makes stunningly good black and white images and the conversions are gorgeous.

 

I am not sure that I could reliably tell the difference between M10 images converted to BW and images straight out of the MM2. In fact, I'm fairly certain I'd get it wrong most of the time. That said, every time I pull out the MM2 and shoot with it I get images that I love. And there is something special about just shooting straight into monochrome... it does seem to render greyscale with delightful bite

 

For me, there is no competition. The M10 is the camera to have (even as an SL owner) and the MM2 is the indulgence. But what a glorious, wonderful indulgence. I'd not be without it and there is something special about an imaging process for black and white photos that can involve nothing more than composing, focussing and creating the image with no processing required.
 

If you exclusively shoot in black and white, the MM2 is the way to go I believe. But for most people, if you can only have one camera, the M10 produces brilliant black and white photos.

what are you expecting from the MM2 that you think, the M10 ouldnt be capable of?

Then, respectfully, either your 246, which I doubt you have, is a bad copy or you have some conflicting settings. The 246 blows away the M10 coverted in Silver Efex files. And I’ve been doing this for a long time.
