Can the 40mm Summicron be fitted to the M10 without any filing ?

Thanks Uliwer. i posed the same question when I was lent an M9 - which I didn't like - it was so fat compared with my M6. it worked fine save that the frame lines weren't correct but I could work around that without a problem. When i get an M10 i will certainly use it.

Years ago, I did file down the claw of a CV 40/1.4 to bring up the 35mm frame-lines.

Ground glass on film plane examination indicates the 35mm frame-line is a near 100% FoV for the 40mm FL...the way I prefer.

With digital, the equivalent test is easy...just compare the VF frame-line to a "live view".

It works on my M240 therefore I can't imagine why it won't work on M10.

The filing of tab is unnecessary if you are ok with 50mm frame-lines. I also worked out the six-bit coding for this lens (it is difficult since a flange screw is in the way) and posted in the past. If you do a search then you may find it.

All I will say is that it is very underappreciated lens and hugely important to me. Now I use this lens to stitch three vertical frames giving me equivalent of 28mm FOV and 50mp sensor. The result beats the pants off my summicron 28mm shot in resolution. A huge benefit if you want to print your landscapes really large.
