Can someone please tell me if this looks like a 50mm Summicron version 4?

My question pls is why the ver V 50 cron is the only non ASPH cron on current range?

 

 

I guess because it is a classic and is 1/3 the price of the ASPH Summicron. Presumably Leica felt unable to engineer an ASPH version that was both "better" than the 11826 lens and cheaper than the Summilux and as such have kept the non-ASPH lens in the catalogue for those who want a 50 at a more traditional Summicron price.

Thanks Wattsy - that is really helpful.

 

One more question - a more generic one probably applicable to all M or iced that the aperture ring went a little past f2 (ie. Below minimum), salesperson assured me nothing unusual. Any thoughts pls?

Apols typo above. Meant to say generic question applicable to all M lenses - in that the aperture ring went below f2....

Yes, very common. Allows for manufacturing tolerances to be sure maximum aperture is reached.
