Soft Release on M10

I feel a difference in shutter button release between my M9 and my MM1, resulting in a thumbsup soft release (beep) on my M9 and nothing on my MM1. I tried a small soft release (bug) on my M10, which I found has no surplusvalue. The height at which the shutter responds to a push on the button seems to differ within camera type in my experience, being all handmade bodies

I actually didn't like the soft release feel on the M9 and M240. Tried on both these models and either gave Soft Release away or it unscrewed itself and got lost. For some reason my M10's shutter has a mushy unresponsive feel to it. I was wondering (hoping) that a soft release can correct this.

Mine isn't mushy at all, very clear, and probably causing a few less movement blurs on 100 captures

By Mushy I meant it has a small lag between when shutter depressed to activation. I don't know if it is just a different feel between models rather than a fault (hopefully mine is not broken).

Yes I understood that, but that's it: of there's a small lag you have less chance of movement blur. But let it check with a dealer if you don't trust it, you feel quite a difference, so..

I think I'm experiencing this also. Coming from an M246 to the M10, I'm noticing that the first "stage" of travel is quite a bit further. The travel to shutter actuation is very short however. I put a soft release on the camera and it feels a bit better. I was a bit annoyed with my finger seemingly bottoming out in the cup.

As I said: the depth of the response can be adjusted to your liking by Leica

Production line bodies hand assembled?

Production line bodies hand assembled?

I doubt whether I understand what you mean. Do you doubt that the M’s are handcrafted, from M3 to M10? Did you ever visit Leica Wetzlar or Solms?
