Albert2 Posted March 29, 2017 Share #1 Posted March 29, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have a Leica Monochrome with a Summicron 35mm f2 ASPH lens. When I try to shoot at f2 on a bright day the shutter speed want to exceed 1/4000. Can anyone recommend what ND filter I would need to bring the shutter speed down please? I am new to Leica cameras and any advise would be appreciated. Many thanks.
Advertisement Posted March 29, 2017 Posted March 29, 2017 Hi Albert2, Take a look here ND Filer for Leica Monochrome. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted March 29, 2017 Share #2 Posted March 29, 2017 Any ND filter from a reputed make will do the trick. (B+W, Heliopan, etc)
Genn Posted March 29, 2017 Share #3 Posted March 29, 2017 I'd suggest to get an orange filter instead of ND. It will make sky darker and improve contrast. Otherwise suggest an ND with 2Ev light reduction.

Fully concur, if it is bright enough and ND may be required it is probably sunny and it would be better to consider contrast filter - it is after all B&W camera. I have a sense that OP is not aware of creative possibilities with B&W contrast filters when used on M9M or M246, filters like yellow, orange, yellow-green, green, red etc, however minimum ISO of 320 is a real problem for max aperture shooting.
Joshua Lowe Posted March 29, 2017 Share #5 Posted March 29, 2017 A 2 or 3 stop ND filter will let you shoot at f2 in bright daylight. As others have mentioned you can also try yellow, yellow-orange, or orange filters.
