peterv Posted March 29, 2017 Share #1 Posted March 29, 2017 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) http://www.fdtimes.com/2017/03/28/leica-thalia/ I really like the way the character of the Thalia's is being described, full of poetry. To some it may sound fuzzy, but for me it's quite okay to look at a lens in the same way as a musical instrument. And: good on Leica/CW Sonderoptic that they now have 'large format' cinema lenses already. This sensor size is very hot in Hollywood and elsewhere in the cinema world since one or two years and it's wonderful that Leica can cater for cinematographers who want to shoot large format, so fast. Advertisement Posted March 29, 2017 Posted March 29, 2017 Hi peterv, Take a look here New niece for S lens: Thalia. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Mistral75 Posted March 29, 2017 Share #2 Posted March 29, 2017 As pointed out by Film and Digital Times, the 55 mm T2.8 Thalia is completely new, built totally from scratch, to fill the gap between the 45 and 70 mm. I wouldn't be surprised if Leica were to announce soon an Elmarit-S 55mm f/2.8 .
erlingmm Posted March 29, 2017 Share #3 Posted March 29, 2017 As pointed out by Film and Digital Times, I wouldn't be surprised if Leica were to announce soon an Elmarit-S 55mm f/2.8 . I would prefer a smaller 55, f/3,5, no CS option, for walk-around

Paul J Posted March 31, 2017 Share #5 Posted March 31, 2017 That constant round iris looks really good. Would be nice to see it on S Lenses, or provide an S mount.
R3D-D0T Posted April 2, 2017 Share #6 Posted April 2, 2017 Leica's cine lenses are superb. Way better in quality compared to S.
Dougg Posted April 16, 2017 Share #7 Posted April 16, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) If Leica introduced a 55mm lens for the S it would put me into a bind... I would prefer not to pay for another S lens, but a 55 would be just too tempting to resist, I'm afraid. I have used a 55mm f/4 Pentax-67 lens on the S with fine results but it's a bit awkward to use since the adapter is "dumb."
