...it’s a nice view from up there, isn’t it?! But it’s a little hike, too, if one walks all the way from central Sendai😅.

Yes, it's a nice walk too, when it's not too cold. I've been there for work many times, but, obviously that's all on hold now. Let's hope we can travel again, later this year, or at least before we all go mad from cabin fever.

Connaught Park, Dover (England).  All taken with a Summilux-M 50 ASPH on a Leica M3 through a yellow filter, at f/1.4 or 2.8 on Ilford XP2 Super.  Nikon CS5000ED, cropped and adjusted in Capture One.

Inspired by Leica's remake of the Noctilux f1.2 and one of the samples on their downloads I though I'd take some similar test shots to see how the 50mm f2 summicron, at f2, compares. Every time there is a new 50mm lens from Leica I compare the MTF spec and samples if available. The Summicron-M IV 1979 is an old design now but still performs at apertures above f2.8. I even compared it with APO-ASPH on SL2 and M10 in the Leica store and could not tell the difference in Lightroom (or Aperture) for distant objects >3m on a bright day. Maybe 24M pixels isn't enough to see the 50 APO-Asph better resolution? The Summilux-Asph 50mm is a better spec (MTF) than the Noctilux and is half the price.

Anyway here is the 50mm summicron at F2 focused at the centre ivy leaf.
