Getting ready to leave for one month work in the UK, I just published this article on my first year of landscape work with the Leica SL, which might be of interest for the group:

Thanks. Whilst not a landscape photographer, I found this a good read.

Safe travels.

Excellent write-up!

One minor remark though.  As you can't stack adapters (eg. Contax 645 to S and S to SL) you can't really use your existing medium format lenses (other than S) on the SL, can you?  Unless there are other non-Leica adapters that I am not aware of.

Thanks for a great evaluation, Vieri.  It led me to your earlier review, which I re-read and enjoyed a second time.  Great work.  Inspirational.

I fully support the idea of SL-twins in the (near) future!

We can only hope!

Thanks. Whilst not a landscape photographer, I found this a good read.

Safe travels.

Thank you very much for reading and commenting, I am glad you enjoyed it all the same

A quick search turned up these:

All Kipon adapters on Adorama: https://www.adorama.com/l/Lenses/Lens-Accessories/Lens-Adapters/Kipon~Lens-to-Camera-Adapters?sel=Camera-Fitting-lrbr-Male-rrbr_Leica-SL

Here all adapters on B&H: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?atclk=Camera+Fitting+%28Male%29_Leica+L+%28T%2fSL%29&ci=3420&N=4077634486+3934378023

The only one I couldn't find is, actually, Contax

Thanks for the reply Vieri. I would agree with every 35mm lens...

I have Contax 645, Hasselblad H and Rollei 6008/Hy6 lenses.

Of those Contax 645 and Hasselblad H lenses are supported through adapters on the Leica S.

It would be so cool if you could also use them on the SL by stacking adapters.  I would be very interested in knowing why Leica explicitly disabled this.

It would indeed. I have no direct experience with stacked adapters, but perhaps someone else here has (?).

Anyway, even if you can't (yet) use Contax and Hassy H lenses, I stand by what I said in the article: you can adapt pretty much every lens ever made, and the SL is the only camera out there allowing you to do so with such abundance of options. Best,

Shamelessly resurrecting this thread to complement you on some lovely photographs. I particularly enjoyed the photograph "lines and a dot"

Amazing images Vieri.   Can you tell me when you would use the S007 and when the SL?  Do you have any thoughts on EVF vs. OVF?

Thank you.

Very nice Vieri...............I prefer you S images, but these are also very nice.

Question,

I see you have the same as me as far as the SL plus S adapter............why would you use the S lenses on the SL when you can just use them on the S. When I bought the SL to S adapter (frigging expensive) I figured I would be able to use my S lenses on the SL, which you can but for me anyway, I have only ever used it in my living room to see if it works...........its never been back out of the box (waist of money)

If I am going to want to use my S lenses then I will put them on the Soo7 not the SL.

I have stacked adapters on the SL in the past to use Hasselblad lenses, apart from the obvious dinosaurous looking creation of multiple adapters, it worked rather well.

I have the single SL to Hasselblad V lenses adapter and have used the Hasselblad Super Combat 250mm lens on the SL but to be honest it is in the drawer along with the other 750 adapters that I have collected over the years...............the only adapter that I use 100% of the time is the SL to M adapter, as its on my SL 100% of the time.

Four possible reasons I can think of.... long exposure capability (which he prefers), backup in case the 007 fails, different field of view options on the smaller sensor, and it's a pound lighter.

looking at Veirie pictures, I cant really see the need for anything longer than 2 or 3 second exposures , I also cant see the need for anything over the 60 second limit that Leica put on the Soo7 unless you are shooting archeology and the likes.

Why would the FOV be different on a S compared to a SL ...........surly 30mm is 30mm on a big sensor over a small sensor (leaving out crop factor) Example my S70mm sumerlux is just about the same as my Noctilux 50 verses 55mm.

If Veire's lenses have all had the new AF motor then he should feel comfotatable taking just his S, saying that as a norm it doesn't matter what camera system you use "Leica, Nikon, Canon" if its a one off important trip, then take a back up................. "Sh!t Happens"

My 2 cens
