Colin Barnes Posted March 7, 2017 Share #1 Posted March 7, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello , I'm looking for some help. I'm new to leica digital and I've edited a RAW pic from my m9 in lightroom 6 (from colour to b and w) but when i export it from lightroom to a file on my MacBook and look at it in preview, it just comes up as the original shot. Were am i going wrong? i tried exporting as a tiff file and it worked but the file size was 104 mb. Can someone tell me how i can simply move a pic I've edited and happy with from lightroom to my MacBook so i can share with the world!, and if you could explain it like you are talking to a 5 year old that would be a great help too. thanks in advance Colin

Alo Ako Posted March 7, 2017 Share #2 Posted March 7, 2017 You may export it as a JPEG.
Bobitybob Posted March 24, 2017 Share #3 Posted March 24, 2017 (edited) You don't say where you want to share your image but assuming its somewhere on the internet it will normally need to be a jpeg file in sRGB format. So for the 5 year old in you, try the following: Go to the File menu (or right click on the image) and select Export, this gives a dialogue box. At the top in Export To, select Hard Drive and then in the Export Location where you want the file to go. Change the file name if you wish, then in File Settings, select JPEG for the Image Format and sRGB for the Colour Space. Depending on where you want to share the image you may need to limit the maximum file size. For instance on this forum it's 250K for non-premium members. Next, change the image size to fit the site constraints, again for this forum it's 1250 pixels on the longest side. I'd leave the sharpening as it is. Adding metadata to the file allows others to see image settings like shutter speed, ISO, keywords etc. You can add a Watermark such as your name by selecting the dropdown in Watermarking and Simple watermark. This produces another Dialogue which allow you to add text etc. You can save these and have various types if you wish. You can also access this dialogue from the Lightroom menu if you just want to make a few different ones for different sites. I'd leave post processing as it is. Although LR will remember these settings for the next time you export a file, you can add them as an export preset and again have different ones for different web sites. Finally LR is a non-distructive image editor so anything you change does not affect the original file and you can have lots of different versions of the same image if you want, so it won't hurt to experiment. I think that's about it, hope it's helpful. Edited March 24, 2017 by Bobitybob
