L-Bracket for the Q

I've been trying for the past year to obtain an "L" bracket for the Q. I checked with Really Right Stuff and they have no plans to offer one. I should have looked on eBay a long time ago. Two weeks ago I found what looked like it might be a good fit for the Q on eBay. I received it today and all I can say is WOW. Fit's great for a non-custom item. I will replace the screw they use with a higher quality one, but the actual bracket is a winner best i can tell. The entire cost was less than $10 and it arrived very promptly considering it came from China. I figured I could risk $10 to just see if it worked and I'm pleasantly surprised. FYI.

Good news...also just curious, why have you put Black Tape on Hood? to avoid scratches or for some other reason?

I put tape on the hood and the top of the camera. Simply to prevent scratches. I don't use a hood so I never have any protection on the hood. I do use a UV filter on the lens.

I love the Q, but I also view it as a tool. I kind of like it being a little stealth. Not shiny and new looking. Totally personal preference.

Thanks for the information.

In fact, I visited the Chinese section on the Photokina in Cologne last year and found one company producing those brackets for all types of cameras. The Q was then not on their list but they said it will only be a matter of time. The stuff looked very reliable and certainly I'll  buy one.

Please keep us informed how it works. Good shots with it!

You can mount the camera on a matching quick release tripod head in portrait orientation.

Exactly. I've used them for over a decade on DSLR's. All of my 5 tripods have the Arca-Swiss standard mount that these clamp in to. It's just easy once you standardize if you have multiple cameras and tripods.

If you want a simple Arca-Swiss style quick release system, the Really Right Stuff B9E plate works well on the Q.  I have it mounted on the bottom of the grip plate:

Hope this is helpful.

No padding between the camera and the bracket.  You could add a bit, but IMHO it is unnecessary as the fit is perfect.  You may be able to see in the attached photo a small gap between the side bracket and the camera.  Perfect...no marks on the camera at all.

Sorry for necro posting, but anyone with this Fittest Leica Q L-bracket and grip, know if the grip is removable? I looked at the online pictures and I can't tell. Soem of their Fuji brackets looks like the grip is held on by screws and can be removed but I can't tell with the Leica Q version.

No, it's not.
