runeleines Posted February 21, 2017 Share #1 Posted February 21, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Lots of Leica users wants to know how many times the shutter in their precious camera actually has been in action. The most described way is to extract data from a DNG file, find the uniqe ID, use a hexadesimal calculator etc etc .... Well, You know the drill. However, there is a much more convenient way of doing this. By using the buttons on the back of your camera, you can enter the "factory service mode", which, among other things, will display the excact shutter actuations at a glance. First a warning! You MUST NOT mess around in here. The service mode is used when a camera needs service and maintanance by Leica tecnicians. Some of the sub menus here will actually change the way your camera behave. So again, DO NOT mess around in here. You do this at your own risk. So, this is how you do it. Are you ready? 1. Turn on your camera. 2. By using the buttons on tha back of the camera, this sequence will enter factory service mode: Delete > Up (2x) > Down (4x) > Left (3x) > Right (3x) > Info Voila, you have entered the "service menu". To find how shutter actuations, use the arrows and scroll to "Body Debug Data (one down) and press Set! Scroll down (using down arrow) and you will find what you have been wondering about :-) To get out of the service mode, simply turn camera off. Good luck. 3
Advertisement Posted February 21, 2017 Posted February 21, 2017 Hi runeleines, Take a look here How to ACTUALLY display shutter actuations on M9 M9-P M-E. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
lucerne Posted February 21, 2017 Share #2 Posted February 21, 2017 Don't risk messing around in the service menu. There's a much easier and safer alternative. It has been around for years. Google "m9info" . It's a tiny application and it can sit on your desktop. When installed, just drag your most recent shot on to the icon. A pop up window will reveal everything you need to know - including the shutter count.
runeleines Posted February 21, 2017 Author Share #3 Posted February 21, 2017 But isn't the "M9info" only suitable for MAC-users?
Ko.Fe. Posted February 21, 2017 Share #4 Posted February 21, 2017 (edited) runeleines, All of the info is already in this thread: http://www.l-camera-forum.com/topic/235450-m-9-shutter-actuations/ Every time I google, it conveniently shows up. Debug method is in the last comment at page 1. Answer to your question is at the same page as well. Archiver Posted April 20, 2017 Share #7 Posted April 20, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Wow, that's great! And despite feeling like I've taken hundreds of thousands of pictures with the M9, I've taken only 40,840 images over the last seven years. Very surprising.
