[ I sincerely apologize for the dismal technical quality of these images. After an unobserved water ingress into our basement, thousands of negatives and slides were irrevocably damaged. There was confluence of grains due to emulsion swelling and ingrowth of mould which was impossible to remove non-destructively. A few images could be partially salvaged by dual scanning (visible/infrared) and processing in SilverFast or VueScan, but there was tremendous loss of image quality. Nevertheless, I like these signs... ]

One of the Chinese tourists who passed me when I took the photo explained to me that the Chinese Government assumes that the Chinese behave in the worst possible way, hence the somewhat strange wording.
