Near Mobridge, South Dakota is a monument to Sitting Bull and serves as his Tombstone. Sitting Bull was a very famous Hunkpapa Lakota Chief who played a big role in defeating General George Armstrong Custer at the battle of the Little Bighorn in June 1876. The monument was carved by the late Korczak Ziolkowski, who began carving the Crazy Horse monument near Mt. Rushmore in the Black Hills of South Dakota. The monument is set on a hillside and overlooks a beautiful section of the the Missouri river. The very same river that Lewis and Clark came up in 1804 on their Voyage of Discovery to the west coast of the US.

One of my many projects is to photograph all the US State Capitols. We recently visited South Dakota and this is their capitol in Pierre (pronounced Pier). This is number 24 on our list. It's quite beautiful inside and the architecture is very nice as well.

Amazing photo.. I am not sure if you did that intentionally, but I guess most people will miss the subtle message about the trend of failed relationships in our modern societies.
