A miller Posted February 22, 2017 Share #21 Posted February 22, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) The "ultimate compact" film camera; well done Adam! Did you use the IIIg to take those shots in the 28 Summaron thread? Hi Steve - Thanks. Yes, many of the film photos were taken with my most favorite compact Barnack camera

A miller Posted February 22, 2017 Share #22 Posted February 22, 2017 klutz (klŭts) n. Slang 1. A clumsy person. 2. A stupid person; a dolt. Thanks Adam, I love you too. Keith - LOL. To clarify, I am merely submitting to you my logic that: since cases are for total klutzes... ...and you are not a klutz... ...ergo...you do not need a case!!! wattsy Posted February 22, 2017 Share #23 Posted February 22, 2017 I agree, you'd think Leica could have kept the screw mount and just thrown in an M adapter... I agree but I don't think Leica really sees the new version of this lens as being anything other than a retro curiosity for M digital camera owners. Certainly that appears to be how they are marketing the lens. Would LTM+adaptor create problems for 6-bit coding which I guess Leica consider an essential feature?
wattsy Posted February 22, 2017 Share #24 Posted February 22, 2017 The IIIG is an M because M stands for Messsucher, rangefinder. I thought messsucher denotes a combined rangefinder and viewfinder.

Makes sense, Ian, but i guess the 6 bit coding vs adaptability with a Barnack is a subjective preference. I personally think the trade off is a no brainer...
