Keith (M) Posted January 31, 2017 Share #1 Posted January 31, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Leica boss Kaltner stops WETZLAR The camera manufacturer Leica has to look for a new boss. The Chairman of the Board, Oliver Kaltner, had decided not to extend his term of office as of 31 August 2017, a company spokeswoman said on Tuesday in Wetzlar. His decision was based "on other plans that I would like to pursue," declared Kaltner. By the end of August, he would be "available in full" as the executive committee of Leica Camera AG. Kaltner had taken the position of head of the traditional company in April 2015. The former Microsoft manager Kaltner had been at Leica since autumn 2014 and since April 2015 at the head office. The company said on Tuesday that the Supervisory Board was dissatisfied with Kaltner's style of leadership. He had run the small camera manufacturer like a large corporation. He had not succeeded in "taking the employees with him".

sblitz Posted February 1, 2017 Share #2 Posted February 1, 2017 Not surprised. Microsoft has a rep as an overly bureaucratic operation to the point of stifling innovation. Board should do a better job of hiring someone from a culture similar to their's. If the pay is good, I'll take it :-)
