Not sure how to start a poll here but I am curious to know how many of you folks who will be upgrading to the M10 (or the M240 , M262 , etc. in case prices go down) will be either keeping or getting rid of your M9s?

Just curious to know what % of folks replace their M9s entirely or just add the new digital M to the herd.

Also, would love to hear your reasonings! Would you keep the M9 to have a CCD sensor Leica on hand? Perhaps you would get rid of it because digital is still digital? Anyhow, love to hear your thoughts.

Count me in... I work with both SL and M9; they have turned out to be a v rewarding combo.  Good to have CMOS and CCD working together too!

I suggest to upgrade, yes, for sure. If many of you will upgrade M9s prices will drop down and I'll be able to buy one  ;)

PS: just joking a little bit...sure M9s are  good cameras and the M10 is even better I think...we should all be glad...

Although I thought about it seriously during the time my M9 was in for sensor change (it was the 3rd), I now don't see myself selling it. I'm not sure about getting the M10 yet. The specs look great, it seems to be a really good upgrade from the M9... but I am also very tempted to go back to film and get an MP.

I just went to the local Leica Dealer to try out the M10.

Beautiful Camera - but despite the "new" thickness not really that much of a change. Kind of shows just how good a camera the M9 was when it was released.

I will keep my M9 - probably forever - the M10 might be a worthwhile upgrade in a few years though.

When I was at the store, I kind of fell in love with the Q however ... I do have to try it now...

Certainly keeping my M9. As the years go by, I lose interest in bickering about CCD vs CMOS. The M8 treated me well back when, and the M9 was a welcome upgrade. My thoughts:

- 18MP is more than enough. This arms race of sensor tech is wonderful for commercial photography, and my DSLR for work can benefit. But, even for large prints, 18MP handles very well and can be pushed quite far.

- Camera size - Are we really playing with peanuts on this one? Maybe it becomes relative after using M cameras exclusively in my travels / street work, but compared to any mirror-based camera, and even some of the Sony/Fuji offerings, I don't see the issue. Build quality of a panzer tank combined with small size = Excellent tool, and convenient weapon should I get mugged.

- ISO - Meh. I've felt the pain of available light and ISO many times, but I try to tell myself that my technique could improve more. Shoot at 1/15 instead of 1/30. Shoot at 1250 instead of 640. Use my faster lens.

It's certainly fun to get a quick bout of GAS when they release new tech, as it's us the 'purists' that keep the M legacy alive in sales. But, I'm not one to be able to shell out 7,000$ just to say I did my part.

Between my M9 + 50/2.4 Summarit, and my M6 + 35 Lux V2, I don't see the need to upgrade for a long time (with an M9 sensor fix in the pocket, no less)

Edit: Added a few images w/ M9, albeit quite low-res. I'll fix later.

I'm not itchy for latest cameras versions. I have and using digital camera made in 2008 (it is not limiting me at all) and was using 2007 made camera until 2016. Sold it because manufacturer support was discontinued, just by the time camera started to show its age.

I don't own M9, but 2015 simplified M-E. Camera age is not significant issue to me and for camera, yet. This is were my situation is only different from M9 owners at this moment.

M9 (M-E) vs M10 appearance is not the factor for me. I have no needs for 24MP. I'm often switching to 10MP with any camera I own.  High ISO is something I'm not desperate, since I have Leica TTL flash for low light color and I'm totally satisfied with M9 sensor, firmware SOOC BW JPEG1 at ISO1600-2500.

Printing on letter size and finding it close to my darkroom prints on 8x10 from ISO400 film pushed at 1600, which are comparing to negatives scans aren't too grainy. I also printed M-E (M9) ISO2500 color files (only little noise reduction applied) on 5x7 size and it looks fine.

Selling M-E adding 3500 USD to get new M10 will leave me again with one digital M. It is not what I want, get used to with other digital and film cameras.

I'm planing to sell other gear and save to get 3500$ for second body. Might be another M-E (sentimental reason) or used M240, which will stay longer in support, have better battery and weather sealed. I'm finding used M240 to be more ideal to use it instead of film M4-2 I used as everyday, everywhere camera, while keeping M-E for good weather, good light use mostly on weekends. Two cameras will worn out longer and have twice amount of shutter life, instead of one. I'm taking about 10K images per year.

I am without an M9 for the time being as I traded for MM. I love the MM and it is a keeper, but am debating getting another M9 or waiting and getting 262 or M10. The M9 does about all I need really. This was one of several exposures I made the night before stumbling into the MM and trading the M9.
