Leica M10 with Nikkor-W 35mm 1.8 LTM

I did not use any lens coding. No PS was used other than transforming DNG to JPG.

On an epson print most likely not. But if you are photographing for lithography. Then yes,  on a 10 micron stochastic 40" press you will

I hope I am wrong .. And I may very well be .. but I have a bad feeling that they sacrificed dynamic Range for higher Iso performance.. and if that is the case then that is a really huge blow for me.

because its that micro detail that makes the M so desirable

The dynamic range is typically high at low ISO and decreases as the ISO increases. You can see graphs illustrating this in some of the more technical reviews of digital cameras. I remember one comparing the Nikon D5 and Nikon D6 with other Nikons. You might be able to find it if you do a search on Nikon D5 and Nikon D6 reviews. So for any given digital camera, you get more dynamic range by setting the camera to the lowest ISO you can. A tripod is helpful.

Nice photo...and welcome!

This board has (what I think is) an unfortunate habit of dividing us by sensor mps. The 10R has a seperate thread to post photos, here:

Can someone post more straight-from-camera JPEGs along with settings used? I was able to achieve pretty good results with my M240 but never quite the colors or the amount of DR I wanted, so I ended up processing RAW about 3/4 of the time.

JPEGs are 8 bit and DNG can be 16 bit, so with DNG from the camera, you have all the dynamic range the camera can provide at a particular ISO setting. With JPEG, you throw away some information and it gets worse with every resave. I typically always work with DNG or with my Nikons NEF files and only convert to JPEG if necessary at the end of the process. I have an Epson Sure Color P700 and the prints match what I see on my calibrated Eizo monitor quite well.

Today I cycled to an area of Tokyo called Higashi-Mukojima, about 20 minutes - by bike - from my apartment. Like most of the 'Shitamachi' (old town) areas in Tokyo, it has that charmingly wonderful patina that only Japan can provide. However, most of it is being torn down, to be replaced by a less charming, more banal, modern version. Never mind. In 40 years or so, the horrible Japanese climate will have done its worst, and the new stuff will look just as worn, and picturesque, as the old.

On a related note, yesterday I finally caved in and ordered the Monochrom M10. I'll be poor, colourless, but happy.

Otemachi, Tokyo. I liked the interplay of these two together.

Both taken with the M10 and Voigtlander 40mm f1.4 Nokton Classic. Processed in Lightroom & Analogue Efex Pro 2
