M10, 50 Summicron, walking around on the Venetian Causeway looking for palm trees, and found this one complete with "babies" sprouting up.  I love looking at it full size, to remind me of the power of Leica lenses, even ones from the 1960's.

To be truthful, I thought taking photos like these with a DSLR would be easier.  Maybe the "taking" is easier, but I enjoy the files better from the Leica.

Edited in DxO PhotoLab 4.

Oh man, thanks a lot for these pics! 2020 was the first year since 2014 that I haven’t been to Japan. I really miss the vibe of the big cities, the charm of the small ones, the beautiful landscapes, the delicious food and most of all I miss my japanese friends. And I really wonder when it will be possible to go there again ...

Out w/ my new (used) M10 before the snowstorm.  Shot with Fujinon-L 5cm f/2.8 lens.  I love its color.

And a monochrome conversion.  The center of interest is not the tree, but it's kind of fun to make the focal point small in the composition.  Not sure it will be evident at this size...

Thanks. I've lived in Tokyo for a long time, and I know I would miss it terribly if I left. Let's hope things get better soon , and we can all return to something like normality.

I love running by Sumida River when I visit Tokyo.  Miss it so much right now.

It is a fun place to be. I don't run, but I cycle in Tokyo a few times a week at least. I love the city. Hope you get the chance to come back here some day.

I went back to the Colony Theater on Lincoln Road on South Beach.  The only place I could get this view from with my 50mm lens was standing in the street, watching for traffic, while waiting for someone photogenic to come along.  It took 15 minutes to take the photo.  It took two hours last night, and another hour this morning, to get PhotoLab 4 to make it look like what I wanted.  I think it is still technically a "photograph", but there was a bit of dirt on the sidewalk at the very bottom which I deleted, so I guess now it's a "photo illustration".  Big difference between wearing a hat that says "photo journalist" compared to a hat that says "artist".

If anyone cares, here's a "behind the scenes discussion" on how the image was transformed to what I just posted:

M10 with the new CV 50mm 2.0 APO-LANTHAR. This lens appears to be a great lens.

Nice, Raid!  I’ve been wondering about this compared to 50mm APO Summicron.  Show us moe, please!

You will not see any difference in 'normal' photos on a website. Some pp would lift Raids pics here.

A plexiglass structure on the Lincoln Road Mall, South Beach, Miami Beach.  Everything was set up ahead of time, and then it was a matter of waiting for someone interesting to come walking along.  M10, Summicron 50, PL4 for editing.

People did stop, but to talk to me.  Nobody recognized the Leica, and for the one person who did seem to ask (I didn't understand his accent), I just said it's an old film camera.  With the red dot covered by black plastic tape, nobody has a clue as to what it is.

The more I shoot with the M10, the less I think I need my Nikon DSLR's, and other cameras.  Also, the more I use PhotoLab, the more I learn how to do with it.  I can't remember the last time I opened any of my other image software.

Very nice - not that I'm any expert, but it looks perfectly shot and processed.  I can take photos like this in India, but not in Miami.  It's one of those photos that makes me feel I'd like to walk out from behind my computer screen, and actually be there!
