MarkP Posted January 21, 2017 Share #4 Posted January 21, 2017 (edited) Welcome to the Forum :-) They used to pop up from time to time on eBay for about $500 USD. I have one for my 28 Summicron, bought new some 5 years ago from Popflash. That leaves another 498 unaccounted for ;-) Edited January 21, 2017 by MarkP
Kcwong Posted January 21, 2017 Author Share #5 Posted January 21, 2017 i have no idea why they only made a small amount of hood
MarkP Posted January 21, 2017 Share #6 Posted January 21, 2017 Neither do I. They are very nice but not very nicely priced.
lct Posted January 21, 2017 Share #7 Posted January 21, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Was a limited series for lenses having regular hoods already. Was selling new for EUR 300 (2010 & 2011) & EUR 350 (2012) in Europe vs EUR 250 for 24/3.8 & 21/1.4 hoods. Got my NIB copy in 2013 for EUR 315 at Leica Shop in Vienna Austria. Honest price then IMHO.
MarkP Posted January 21, 2017 Share #8 Posted January 21, 2017 Another 497 to go...
rpittal Posted January 21, 2017 Share #9 Posted January 21, 2017 I also found one last year; 496 to go; However, I also purchased a new version from Overgaard (screw-on) that works very well for my 35 Summilux asph preFLE: http://www.overgaard.dk/Thorsten-von-Overgaard-Gallery-Store-Hardware-for-Photography-and-Leica-Lenses-and-Cameras.html

MarkP Posted January 22, 2017 Share #16 Posted January 22, 2017 (edited) Unbelievable. I'd been considering upgrading my 28 Summilux ASPH (for which I use this hood) to the new version. Selling the hood for $1000 USD would go a long way to covering the cost of upgrading the lens! Edited January 22, 2017 by MarkP
Exodies Posted January 22, 2017 Share #17 Posted January 22, 2017 What does it do that's fantastic?
MarkP Posted January 22, 2017 Share #18 Posted January 22, 2017 On the 28 Summicron ASPH it is much more compact than the original gargantuan hood. It is fantastic looking, fantastic effective, fantastic black anodised metal, and is fantastically priced :-)
MarkP Posted January 22, 2017 Share #19 Posted January 22, 2017 ...and induces fantastic delirium if someone seriously payed $1000 for it. Unbelievable. I'd been considering upgrading my 28 Summilux ASPH (for which I use this hood) to the new version. Selling the hood for $1000 USD would go a long way to covering the cost of upgrading the lens! SORRY TYPO... should have written 28 Summicron ASPH
lct Posted January 22, 2017 Share #20 Posted January 22, 2017 Unbelievable. I'd been considering upgrading my 28 Summilux ASPH (for which I use this hood) to the new version. Selling the hood for $1000 USD would go a long way to covering the cost of upgrading the lens! Indeed but prices will drop if you sell yours... I wonder if i won't sell mine first finally... OP are you still here? Just kidding but i still prefer the plastic hoods for 35/1.4 asph and aspherical to be honest. I should sell one or two of them with the lens if i were serious...
